Binkiland attached itself to Google Chrome

Recommended Posts

Binkiland attached itself to Google Chrome. Symptom was very slow loading and slow jerky scrolling. It was suggested that Malwarebytes could find and remove this malware. I ran the program but it did not find/remove Binkiland. I received another suggestion as a way to remove Binkiland. Suggestion was the uninstall Google Chrome and any files or folders with Google or Chrome in the title. I uninstalled Google Chrome and all files, folders or contents containing Google or Chrome. That removed Binkiland. I re-installed Google Chrome but symptoms remain, very slow loading, very slow jerky scrolling. I have a Dell Optiplex 330 running XP Pro. Avast Premium is my anti-virus anti-malware program. I uninstalled Google Chrome again and reverted to Windows Explorer. Problem persists, slow loading and slow jerky scrolling. Any suggestions/help will be appreciated.

Hi.   Just as a FYI

There is a How To article on "tackling" the pest Binkiland.

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that Binkiland New Tab is a browser hijacker. These so-called "hijackers" manipulate your browser(s), for example to change your startpage or searchscopes, so that the affected browser visits their site or one of their choice. This one also displays advertisements.

Please take a look at this article Removal instructions for Binkiland
https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/165242-removal-instructions-for-binkiland-new-tab/

Cheers.
