Coinvault Virus

Recommended Posts

This is my 1st post and i would like to start off with saying hi to everyone.

last week i received an email from what i thought was a genuine company. I opened the email and outlook closed down. I then re opened outlook and everything was ok. I came back to my computer later that evening, my wallpaper had changed and i also had some sort of program up on the desktop telling me they have encrypted my files and i would have to pay 1 x bitcoin to the value of 214 euros and they will decrypt my files and that will be the end of it. It also said i have so many hrs to send this payment or it will double...

I checked my files on 3 hard drives and my files were corrupt and could not be opened. I have over 90GB of family photos which i have taken over the past 5 years since my daughter was born and now they are inaccessible.

I tried so many different things to try and get my files back but i am lost and have tried everything i can. I have no backup of these files and i also cannot roll back my system.

This has really upset me and my wife and we just don't know what to do or where to turn.

Any advise would be appreciated

Kind regards

Dan

There is no such thing as a "Coinvault Virus".

What you have described is a "ransomware trojan".

Malware removal assistance can not be provided in this sub-forum which is a product support sub-forum.

Assistance with removing the ransomware trojan can be obtained in;  Malware Removal Help
