Quick Question!?

Recommended Posts

I updated Malwarebytes. and after I was done with the update, I received another notification telling me to update malwarbytes again, I pressed okay and proceeded with the update. I was wondering why I had to update malwarebytes twice? Also I was wondering why Malewarebytes didn't launch after I hit finish, even though I had the option selected that says "Launch malwarebytes" before you click finish download. Malwarebytes was running though, the icon was on the lower right hand corner of the screen on the system tray, Is this what it meant by "Launch" usually the menu pops up on my screen, so I think this may be a bug. So I was wondering why malewarbytes updated twice, and why it didn't launch when finished even though I had the option selected. Thank you

Is it know to to just launch to the system tray sometimes? Usually it pops up on screen I was waiting for it to pop up haha

The reason why I asked is because it seemed weird.... I did crash mid scan, as in the program wasn't responding. And I had to close it using task manager, im running another scan right now, so far so good.

Okay, I will try that if it happens again. Is it launching just from the system tray normal though?

Hello:

Sorry, I don't have a test box or VM on which to perform a new install or upgrade.
Perhaps a staff member or another forum member with a test box will correct me if I am wrong.

But the behavior you describe may be the normal, expected behavior?
The program is launched and running from the system tray, not the "Dashboard" or GUI, I think.

(Sorry, but it's been a while since I last installed it on my systems.)

This video shows the installation process and it does not show the Dashboard launching: How do I install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

To open the Dashboard, you can either:

  • Double-left-click with your mouse on the system tray icon, OR
  • Double-left-click with your mouse on the desktop shortcut icon and then click "Yes" with the UAC prompt, OR
  • Launch the program from the Windows start menu and then click "Yes" with the UAC prompt.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT:

>>>Your screen shots appear to be ~2 weeks old?

>>>Since then, have you performed a clean reinstall as previously suggested and as explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x ??

>>>If you have done so and you are still uncertain if your MBAM is working properly, please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

Thank you,

Well I wouldn't say it's normal because I have tested it myself, and when I re-install the GUI opens, after I click finish... Perhaps it was a one time thing, but i've heard others saying they've seen it.

Hi:

We don't see m/any such reports of that behavior on uninfected, undamaged systems. :(

It might have been a hiccup.

Yeah the Screenshot I used was just an old one. Firefox has told me he has seen this behavior before. I think it may have had something to do with me updating twice. Usually you get this message below.. perhaps the second update I did, malwarebytes didn't have to close and stayed open or something. I just wanted to make sure this was normal incase I was infected or something.
