Caps Lock light on Acer Keyboard

Recommended Posts

My ACER (Windows 8.1) has never had a Caps Lock light (or similar) Any ideas ??

HID Keyboard Device
    Device Kind    Keyboard
    Device Name    HID Keyboard Device
    Vendor    Lite-On Technology Corp
    Location    USB Input Device

I do not like the idea of a rInging noise (very distracting), and a Tray Icon means I need to constantly look from keyboard to Tray to Screen ...

So for that idea I may as well continue to look up as I type .................

Thanks for any (or replace keyboard ?) -

EDIT - I may not have mentioned this is my Desktop, not a Laptop

i take it that the caps lock functions correctly ...

i would hazard that the keyboard is at fault .

sub in a known good keyboard ... that should prove the point .

i look up and down all the time ...

Most likely there was never one fitted, from what I see ....

It is a Cordless, and this may just be an idea to cut down on wearing out batteries etc.

The Wireless Mouse is a pain if left on for too long, as the batteries run down over about 3 to 4 weeks, as I always forget to turn it off.

A wired one works as epected (normal) but I think it is put up with it, or buy a new one ............

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry that I have not reported my findings yet.

There seems to only be 2 genuine solutions that work in "some way" (with the help of yardbird).

A single beep for CapsLock On and Off - Hold CapsLock down for 10 seconds, agree to the message on screen.

It produces a single High pitch beep when you turn it on and a Lower tone when you turn it off.

The problem is the beep is so quiet that TV or passing traffic hides the noise, and it is no longer here (gone to ??).

The second result produced "another Icon" in the tray, and this is just annoying since it requires you to look up (as I do now).

So from playing, (and yardbirds help) , it seems that there is no solution generally, unless I change keyboards.

Thanks to the couple of answers, and yardirds guidance, (Acer was no help) it seems this is about it -

Regards -
