Hello and :welcome: :

OOPS! Our posts crossed in cyberspace...
First, for safety reasons, please don't post potentially malicious links in the public forum.  Please either "munge" the link (e.g. hxxp://badlink.com) or enclose it in code tags

http://www.badlink.com

or copy/paste it into a notepad *.txt file.

This particular sub-section of the forum is specifically reserved for non-malware issues.  So.....

If you think you have a malicious link
for evaluation by the Research Team, please do the following:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic here
  • Then please post the requested information in the URL/IP area of the Research Center here

If you have a possible malware sample for evaluation by the Research Team, please do the following:

  • Please follow the steps in these pinned topics here and here
  • Then please post the requested information in the Malware section of the Research Center here

If you think you might be infected, then I suggest that you might want to please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Thanks,

These are spear phishing links a targeted account gets directly from a phisher or phishing links that are automatically spammed to everyone on the contact list when the person getting spear phished installs the malware on their computer.

Most of these steal the SSFN file from the PC and bypass Steam Guard.

If you installed the malware yourself and you were direclty targeted, you probably would lose your high value items pretty quick and need to freeze your account and clean the malware within a short time.

If you were spammed the link and installed the malware you might need to move fast too. If you didnt click the link you should be fine.

If someone you know installed the malware and spammed the link, you should tell them to post on this forum and warn ALL their Steam friends not to click it and remediate immediately if they did.
