Install Malwarebytes Premium to second computer

Recommended Posts

Hi:

Kindly excuse my intrusion....

In addition to @gonzo's expert advice:

Providing that you have a Premium license that has been used on less than three computers...

As of Sept 1, 2015, that would need to be qualified a bit, depending on the license purchase date.

If you have a LIFETIME license (no matter when it was purchased), it may be activated on ONLY 1 PC at a time.

(There is no such thing as a multi-PC lifetime license.)

If you have a SUBSCRIPTION license purchased BEFORE Sept 1, 2015, it may be activated on "up to 3 PCs" at a time.

If you have a SUBSCRIPTION license purchased AFTER Sept 1, 2015 (from the Malwarebytes store or trusted partners), it may be activated on ONLY 1 PC at a time.

Also, "old" licenses activate with a Key and an ID.

AFAIK Newer licenses activate with only a Key, not an ID. ;)

Finally, as @gonzo pointed out, the installer is the same for Free, Trial & Premium.

If you are installing MBAM for the first time on any one computer, the setup wizard will offer a one-time, 14-day, Trial by default, unless the user opts out during the setup. It is one trial per PC per MBAM program version.

If you have a valid license, however, you may wish to opt out of the Trial, and proceed directly to ACTIVATION to enable the Premium features.

Please post back if you need more help with this, as it can be a bit confusing.

Thanks!

If you uninstall Malwarebytes Premium from any of those 3 computers will that free up permission for it to be installed on another computer?

I'm replacing both my desktop and laptop machines over the next few weeks and want to be able to run it on their replacements. Do I need to somehow de-register the program on those old machines before I scrap them?

Yes, you can either deactivate on the 2 old computers (which will convert MBAM to the Free version), or you can uninstall it from the old computers completely, if you don't plan to use them.

To deactivate, open the GUI > My Account > click "Deactivate".

See here

Important point is that, for a 3-PC license, the application be activated on no more than 3 PCs in the same household at one time.

Cheers,

Hi Chris,

You would need to first Deactivate the license on the old machine.  Click My Account & the press Deactivate button. Then on the new hardware, install the program, and then Activate the license.

The answer is Yes to your last question.

{ Dont know what you mean by "scrapping" the old machine.  If you are giving it away, I would suggest you wipe the hard drive so that all your personal info cannot be retrieved.)
