My key works for Version 1022 but not for Version 1057

I've had Malwarebytes Premium installed on my PC for over a year and I bought my license in Sept 2012. My license is valid but after I upgraded to Version 1057, my license is not accepted and I had to revert back to the previous version (1022). I submitted a ticket to Malwarebytes tech support and a person named "Liliana" said that my license had been used on 6 devices, which I know is not correct as I bough the 5 user license. Has anyone else seen this issue? Thanks in advance!

That's the problem.

There never was a "5 User License".

Back in 2012, the only consumer licenses were for 1 PC at a time.

After March 2014, there *were* 3-PC *subscription* licenses; but sale of those was discontinued in September 2015 (existing 3-PC subscription licenses are still valid).

 

And there never was any sort of multi-PC lifetime license.

So, the license you purchased back then was not legitimate.

 

Alas, we here in the forum are unable to directly resolve such licensing issues.

As you already have an open working ticket with the Help Desk, the best we can suggest is to continue to work with them to resolve your issue.

That's interesting (and matches with Liliana just sent me). I have the email receipt from cleverbridge where I paid for a license, but it doesn't expressly say "5 user", so I must have thought it was a 5 user license and it was (possibly) only a three user license? Thanks for the info!

In 2012, the ONLY legitimate consumer MBAM licenses available were lifetime licenses for 1 PC at a time.

There never was a multi-PC lifetime license, neither at the beginning, nor back in 2012, nor in 2014, nor now.

 

The "up to 3 PC" licenses were subscription licenses that were first available in March 2014.

Their sale was discontinued in September 2015 (but existing licenses are still honored).

 

Since September 1, 2015, legitimate licenses for MBAM Consumer purchased through the Malwarebytes store or trusted partners are SUBSCRIPTION and for 1 PC at a time.

(There is a discount for multiple licenses purchased at the same transaction.)

 

But, again, there never, ever was a legitimate, lifetime, consumer MBAM license for more than 1 PC.

 

Your best bet will be to continue to work with the Help Desk to try to resolve your issue.
