  1. I confess, upfront, to advanced beginner status only. Trend Micro missed the malware, and I was unequipped to fight it. Now, with all known efforts to me exhausted, and a hard drive holding important (not backed up) data, I have had no luck booting up the XP Media Center Edition Dell Dimension 4100. Initial action taken was Windows repair mode (boot sequence cd/rom drive 1st) and disc would not complete download, machine asking for 1GFXEXT.EXE (Intel). Prior to warranty expiration, motherboard had been replaced (Jan 08) and Dell recently informed me that no disc (drivers) was required to be provided at the changeout of the board. I can't get in to Windows (although watching the Dell and Microsoft graphics on the monitor is beginning to feel like hypnotherapy) and would really like to learn if there is any software that will get me in (tried Spotmau and it could not boot my system after strong claims to the contrary) or any hardware solution for that matter. I do understand that a data transfer and reinstalling Windows would be fast (until all the grueling hours of recompilation-some of which is original writing and non-reproducable) would remove all traces of the msas2009.exe and throwing in a new hard drive would also really put a clean start to things (not to mention the 2 yr upgraded coverage offered by Trend Micro for letting the little bastards get in) I just don't have a clue of what has already proven effective to the task. Anything, anyone? Thank-you...D.B. Double
