  1. I tried Fixitand it said I needed additional software to run it. .NET Framework 2.0 or later. I downloaded NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and got the message "This product is already installed on this machine"
  2. I'm having much trouble. I still can't get updates from microsort. Sometimes I can't connect with the internet. My firewall still turns off for a minute several minutes after startup. On the plus side scans don't show any threats.
  3. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is now working. I started a Quick scan and it is running OK.

  6. Now I can't run MBAM. Run-time error '53' File not found: advpack

I tried installling PC Tools firewall but then I couldn't get an internet connection.I was getting a message from it (firewall) - Microsoft Windows Serch Indexer is trying to modify or control another application Event Type Start another application with parameters I ended up useing system restore
  8. Thanks. It seems to be working ok. The baloon that comes up when I start my computer telling me no fierwall is on has been doing that for a long time.Maybe a couple years. I just waited for it to say my firewall was on in the past.

  10. I was able to set internet explorer back to defaults by downloading it again and then the reset worked.I don't know if that helps though.What will happen if I wipe the drive clean.
  11. I tried but it couldn't run. "Failed to process." A window titled RUNDLL gave the message- Error loading inetcpl.cpl the specific module could not be found
  12. My last post seems to have disappeared. I ran Repair_Windows.exe System shut down afterwards but I had to press the power button to start it again. Firewall still turns off for a minute or so a few minutes after I start my computer. I was going to look at windows updates again using Help and Support in the start menue but now nothing opens when i click on it. Windows update website still gives me an error message -cannot connect 0x80244004
