  1. Borislav, I ended up working on my sister's computer during dinner last night since I knew I wouldn't be able to get back to it for some time. I followed instructions and guidelines here found in another thread. I went through them step by step, slowly and in the end I think I saved her system. A week from now I'll be back at her place and see how it's going. No question that this forum was an enormous help. I never would have known about these steps without it.
  2. Gents (and ladies), I run a clean ship so rarely run into any issues. However I am at my sister's today and her system was running so slow as to be useless. I updated her Malwarebytes, ran a quick scan and came up with 102 bad boys. The problem is I am unsure how to proceed. It could just be confusing her Norton Antivirus, right? I see most are under ProgramFiles/SearchProtect. Is that a Norton program? For vendor it's mostly "PUP.Optional.SearchProtect.A" There is no question this system had issues. I had to uninstall that stupid Xvidly toolbar, which had hijacked their IE and Chrome. I am unsure if I got it all, but I think I have. LOG ATTACHED! Would appreciate some quick advice. I am hoping I can fix this for her today. MBAM-log-2014-05-10 (15-23-04).txt
