    NetFlix

I requested a new one today. I'd been watching the old account daily for other activity. Somebody wouldn't have needed to know my credit card number to reactivate the account. All they need to do was login and order a new service since Netflix stores the credit card information, but only displays the last four digits to the user. Netflix said they blacklisted the card number, but couldn't explain how 1) the system allowed it to be used again 2) how someone gained access to the account again after I changed the password.

    NetFlix

Just because I felt the need to scream this from the rooftops... Netflix is having some serious security issues. My dormant account was hacked last week. I got five emails from NetFlix telling me my account was reactivated, new services had been ordered, and my password changed. I called them right away. The charges to my card were reversed, and the service cancelled. They said my credit card would be blacklisted. They sent me a password reset email, and I changed my password on my associated email account. I should have asked NetFlix to obliterate the account all together since I can’t, but didn’t think of that. Then yesterday, another “Welcome back” email and a service reactivated email. This time, the hacker in Columbia created a user in my account called “Come on led me see.” My supposedly blacklisted card was used again. When I called NetFlix this time, I asked to speak to the security department. They are clueless how this happened, especially how my blacklisted credit card was used again. They say they’ve closed down the account completely now. They insisted that the hackers have no access to the credit card info because they only show the last four digits. Yeah, but that's not what's in your servers, right? Anyway, I've cancelled my credit card and am going through that pain. I'm not the only one seeing this kind of bizarre stuff either. http://blog.urth.org/2015/01/25/something-at-netflix-is-seriously-broken/ I was worried that maybe I had an undetected key logger on my PC since they accessed my account right away again even after a password change, but it seems more sinister than that. Scary stuff. Jane
