  1. I was just curious because i saw a few threads online about people having to block the ip. Well malware and a virus are basically the same thing and the same as a hack really. The file modification is intended to access your computer without your knowledge and do things you probably wouldnt want done. But they all have to be programmed/controlled by a user/hacker. So its all the same. As far as the computer issues. Had alot of pup and pum as well as a few virus's. Some because questionable things were downloaded and certain security measures were either already not on/ working correctly or not there at all. Tried to get it all cleaned up and saw progress but then started to get worse. Very high memory cpu usage/ very erratic. And higher then normal memory usage as well. Before it was about half the memory, which was still not as good as it should be but could also be due to my mom having a HP and having alot of bloatware. Ive been removing alot of programs and still high memory and eratic cpu usage even on idle/ desktop with no programs open. Ill watch it in task manager and for awhile it will be low less then 10% then its at the ceiling and all around. Suprisingly enough it hasnt effected my gaming performance too bad. Which i have a hard time understanding. She has a intel R gma 31/33 chipset which suprisingly enough can run some pretty good games, Older games. One of the demanding ones ive been playing is half life 2. And for how demanding that game is it still runs pretty good/ better then the stock or demo, It was modified somehow. Alot of things on her PC dont act right. Her user account is her admin account. The UAC as well as many other OS functions dont work right or have definently been modified. One report/log was saying there were 2 admins logged in or duplicate accounts. Which she only has one , her admin. I do use utorrent and recently uninstalled it while i was being helped on bleeping computer. Then i tried reinstalling it today and it worked but when i tried to run it i got a group permissions error. Which wasnt there before. Im not fond it being installed in the appdata folder either, as well as other programs. I honestly like programs to be portable and leave no trace whatsoever. The group permissions error is new, and i know my mom didnt put it there, she honestly probably wouldnt know how to access it. Alot of programs typed into the search bar dont come up. I can be looking at the file in my screen and it says it cant find it. Files seem to be changing as well. One day they will work one way another theyve been modified and work differently or dont work. Icons/programs disappearing from the task tray, the little tray in the bottom right corner, Like the AV, malewarebytes and the sound icon. It doesnt boot or restart the same either. Its windows 7 and when it boots or shuts down there is an animated logo that rotates, it doesnt rotate anymore. Same thing with the network icon, while its connecting it rotates, not anymore though. Sometimes the speakers sound as if there either picking up interference or someone is broadcasting a signal through them. Can here people talking and other things. Mostly happens when there in use. I know it sounds crazy like its just background in the movie clip or video or whatever, but its not. You can rewind it and it will be gone or unheard. Some folders that she should have access to are locked, a pop up comes up saying that There were locked folders as well, saying access is denied, even though its the admin account, basic folders too like documents, photos, etc. (cant seem to find them now) Sometimes i would try to uninstall something and it would say no, either access denied or maybe a group policy thing. Sometimes things wouldnt delete, it would say they were in use but they wernt, say i wanted to delete a folder. It would say the folders in use try again. So i would try again and get the same error. But if i opened the folder and deleted everything inside then deleted the folder it would work. A few times it wouldnt and i would have to restart to delete it. It could be a folder full of .rar files that i just got done uploading, so there would be no reason for it to be in use. As crazy enough as it sounds its like one minute the hacker is fixing things, then messing things up. Which makes perfect sense. Doesnt do the hacker any good to sabotage a system they intend to use to either get info or use its system. It would be like stealing a boat to go to cuba and en route you sink it lol. Also to mess with peoples heads, they can probably figure out when someone is getting ready to do a complete restore to factory or reinstall of windows, So maybe they just take it easy for awhile and let things cool down to the point where the person is no longer looking for certain things. Im constantly looking. Because i know theres things/damage there and am trying to fix it. I don want to do a complete reinstall but im waiting for my mom to get a external HD or USB stick so i can back up her files, or ill just put them in online storage.
  2. my moms computer has been acting like its been hacked for awhile. Been trying to fix it. Had a thread open on bleepingcomputer on someone helping me to clear it out but he thought it was done. I kept saying that its not but he started to not be so helpfull. I started running scan and trying to find whatever was messing with the system. I downloaded Process Hacker to show all the hidden services as well as other things, when i noticed that malewarebytes was connecting to ec2-174-129-219-231.compute-1.amazonaws.com on 4 seperate connections. Didnt seem right, im guessing its not supposed to be.
