Hello, I have had the same problem. I have just instlled Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home (Free) v2.1.6.1022 in Safe mode. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. After scanning, I have rebooted PC to normal Windows state and found that a new Service mbamservice.exe is running. I have not activated Premium edition. I have removed the service manually with windows SC command. If your statement from 2011 "As I stated above, mbamservice should not be running if you have the free version and did not accept the trial. If it is running, then do the following:" still valid, then I think version 2.1.6.1022 has an error. Thanks
