    The video that is linked on the article shows SFX in works. From what I can see, the person runs a exe file, not a rar/zip/tar file.

    Well, yeah. But what im asking is can you actually get infected by opening a .rar/zip/tar files? Like without even ONCE executing a exe file? Its probably not possible, but hey.

    I know this is a dumb question, but seriously, can you get infected by a RAT just by opening a compressed archive? Just a question I had in my mind.
