  1. Hello Kevin, I have performed the steps as you stated. But the problem still remained. I was so frustrated by this that I entirely forgot to post the blogs. My apologies for that. But I think I've solved the problem. I have once more re-installed the whole system. One of the things that needed to be done was installing Silverlight for something in Firefox. During this installation, it gives the user two checkboxes to A: Set MSN as the browser homepage (which is unwanted), and B: Set Bing as the default Search engine (which is wanted even less) And that's where I think things went wrong before. More so because I ran AdwCleaner again after installing Silverlight with those checkboxes left unchecked, and it just didn't appear again. Either way, this might be useful information to fight this unwanted piece of programming. If it is, I am of course happy to have been of help. And to you, Kevin, thank you for helping and supporting me throughout this. It is greatly appreciated! For as far as I am concerned right now, this topic may be closed. Best wishes and take care, Dennis
  2. I have to go now, however. And I'll be gone for a week or so.
  3. Hello Kevin, I have just started up Chrome a few times to see if there has indeed been any improvement. Unfortunately... there isn't. Chrome gives me once more the very same pop-up window that I have started to despise a few months ago. I have attached the pop-up to this message just in case it's needed. I will now run AdwCleaner again to get rid of it. That has always temporarily solved it so far. However, that is of course not an ideal solution. So any help you can provide will be very welcome indeed!
  4. Hello Kevin, I have once again followed your instructions to the letter. Here's the report. zoek-results.log
  5. Hello Kevin, Once again thank you for your reply. I will not be able to perform the steps until Thursday at earliest, though. And then I will be away for a week. I will keep you informed when I do.
  6. Hello Kevin, I'm afraid I indeed still need help, because I have once again followed the provided instructions to the letter. That includes deleting the browser data and installing Malwarebytes anti-exploit. Unfortunately, however, it was once again all for naught: Upon starting Chrome, the same malware showed up disguised as the plug-in that just won't go away.
  7. Hello Kevin, The laptop currently works fine. But I'm still too uncertain if it continues to work like this - moreso because the Chrome install on it seems bugged. I theorize that "MSN Homepage & Bing Search Engine" will just re-implant itself into Chrome as soon as I start it up. Which is highly undesired. The laptop therefore is using Mozilla Firefox as its current standard web browser, but my dad likes to use Chromecast to watch stuff from his laptop on his TV. However, Chromecast is not supported by Firefox. In a nutshell, I'm afraid that there is still an "invisible" malware on the laptop that keeps buggering Chrome.
  8. Hello Kevin, thanks again for your reply. I have performed the scans and attached the logs to this reply. AdwCleanerS53.txt cureit.log JRT.txt
  9. Hello Kevin, I have performed the two scans as requested and instructed, having indeed deleted the indicated PUM detections. The logs are attached to this reply. RK1.txt RK2.txt
  10. Hello Kevin, once again thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I'll be extremely busy the next couple days. Too busy to perform what you said in your latest post. I might be able to do them by Monday. I'll keep you updated!
  11. Hello Kevin, I have followed all the instructions for DnsJumper to the letter. That includes indeed having chosen to "Apply" the new DNS (I chose Google's). Router has been reset and the password has been changed as instructed. Followed the instructions for DnsJumper as before after this procedure. And the new RK log is attached to this reply. RogueKiller.txt
  12. I have indeed done running DNS jumper by the instructions provided to me, but it doesn't seem to have solved that problem. Perhaps I should run another RK scan, and let RK remove the DNS entries instead? Good to know that there is no need to do anything regarding the "Trojan", though.
  13. Here's the RogueKiller log. The virus in question seems to be the Zeus Trojan. RogueKiller directed me to a page with removal instructions, where it also stated that it could remove it automatically. Further investigation via Google informed me that it can drain a person's bank account, and that it could have found its way to a personal computer via trusted websites such as Facebook. However, I personally think that it might also have found its way in here via an update of the F-Secure virus scanner. Maybe the above information is unnecessary, but it may be helpful for other users to give them a heads-up. RogueKiller.txt
  14. Hello Kevin! I am performing the steps right as we speak. I'll post the log as soon as RogueKiller is done scanning. In the meantime, however, I'd like to say that things seem to have gotten even worse now: RogueKiller seems to have found a virus within the F-Secure virus scanner! I might be mistaken, but this seems rather strange to me.
  15. Hello Kevin, thanks for the fast reply! I don't think that those DNS settings are trusted - moreso because it actually states "PUM" and we have nothing to do with Ireland. As such, I think those settings need to be removed. I'll look into it by Thursday.
