Thanks for all your help. After this episode, I went ahead and upgraded to the paid version of MBAM, figuring the added real-time protection will be worth every penny if it stops even one more of these time-wasting events from taking place. Keep fighting the good fight. Cheers!

Running good now. I was wondering about a few of the HJT entries. Are these OK to delete? I just read the sticky posts and I apologize for having not followed protocol, my bad. The good news is that I've seemingly cleaned it out finally. Thanks and this thread can be deleted now.

After poking around on these forums, I found the link you guys provided to download Malwarebytes using a randomized file name. This allowed me to run Malwarebytes in Normal Mode. It found rootkits and trojans (logs below), and after quarantining and deleting it needs a reboot to complete the removal. However, after several attempts, it appears that it does not completely remove the rootkits as they keep appearing on subsequent scans. Please help! Hi, My computer is infected with the latest iteration of the "Windows Security Alert" malware. I cannot launch any of my spyware tools, including Malwarebytes. It also has disabled my McAfee and my firewall. I have tried starting in Safe Mode, but even in Safe Mode I cannot launch any of my malware tools. I have tried reinstalling Malwarebytes in both Safe and Normal, no luck, even when renaming. Interestingly, I dowloaded Spyware Doctor and it was able to launch and find the malware during scans. I bought Spyware Doctor and it "removed" the malware. However, it seems Spyware Doctor did not fully remove the malware because I still cannot launch any of my spyware software, my McAfee will not run, and I get legitimate popups saying that my Internet connection is being re-directed - I always click "No". The Spyware Doctor did seem to remove some of the malware, as I no longer am getting the Windows Security Alert popups and there is nothing in the system tray.
