Running MWB Premier 2.0 RTS with Norton 360

Recommended Posts

Hello

What files should be excluded in Norton 360 in order to "safely" wun MWB Premier 2.0's real-time protection at the same time as Norton 360?

I excluded the *.exe in the MWB directory but I thought I read that MWB-related .sys files under \system32\drivers need to be excluded as well.

I'm running MWB under both 32-bit and 64-bit Win7 systems so I need to know if that makes a difference please.

For what it's worth I also noted that Norton 360's history logs are showing activity being "blocked" for mbamservice.exe even though I have it specifically configured as excluded. That's why I'm wondering if .sys files need to be excluded as well.

Any help would be mucho appreciated. Love the new 2.0 interface and features---it does handle much more smoothly than the previous version. Now I can even entrust others with doing some of the configuration work for our subscriptions!

Hi:

Here are the generic instructions for the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) files to exclude in Norton:

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software - follow the steps for your version of Windows:

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For 32-bit Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64-bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 & 8:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well.
Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products (it's not quite up-to-date, but the general approach should be the same).

Please post back and let us know how it goes,
