Not happy about how the new MBAM works

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm just an amateur pc security guy from Finland and I would like you guys answering some questions about MBAM 2.0. I'm trying to build finnish instructions for using your latest product, but find it difficult since the newest version is, in my opinion, quite hard to comprehend.

Everything goes fine until I've finished scanning my computer for viruses etc. After that is what I don't understand. BY DEFAULT the program does nothing to the possible virus foundings(?). There's an option to quarantine the foundings, which is good, but there's no buttons for IMMEDIATE COMPLETE REMOVAL, which I think is rather stupid don't you think? Ok so after being confused about missing removal button I tried the quarantine button. The program said that it will restart my pc to remove what has been found, ok I so far so good. Once my pc restarts itself, MBAM doesn't start which is weird in my opinion. I have to start it myself and when I go to the quarantine section, I find that the foundings are still there, unremoved. So I have to MANUALLY delete the foundings after I restarted my computer. Are you guys getting the picture? Why do you make the removal of infectious stuff so hard? In my opinion the first version of MBAM was so much simpler. 2.0 forces you to do stuff manually which is never good when talking about virus removal. Regular people will have trouble removing viruses etc. because there's so many steps to do.

There's also some bugs, for example, when i want to cancel my scan, the program will still scan or freeze or whatever, and the only way to stop the whole program after that is to kill it's process.

All in all I am very disappointed to this new version and would like you guys to modify it to make it more simpler.

Hello and :welcome:

First off I understand your frustration with the new version, its something we all need to get used to. Second, for any comments or suggestions to the MBAM program its better to post about them HERE. Perhaps you can go there and suggest the create a manual in your preferred language. Currently I know of only an English manual that can be found in this FAQ HERE item #12

Now as for using the program, when you preform a scan and items are detected and you are viewing the results, you do have the option to Quarantine All as illustrated below (circled in red):

You will be prompted to reboot if needed. Once you reboot, Malwarebytes will on open up again or load unless you are using the Premium version. Also if you go back and view the Quarantine folder you will see the items listed there that were removed. At this time they are now harmless to your computer. We put them in a quarantine folder just in case they need to be restored, due to possible false positives or if it was removed in error by the user. A lot can be done automatically if you have the Premium version with automatic updating and scanning, including Quarantine items found automatically.

On the other hand, if you feel you may still be infected, feel free to follow the instructions below to receive free, one-on-one expert assistance in checking your system and clearing out any infections and correcting any damage done by the malware.

Please see the following pinned topic which has information on how to get help with this: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

Thank you

Thanks for you reply, Firefox!

I will be writing on the suggestions forum, since I'm very unhappy how the new program works.

The english manual you pointed me to is just an overall FAQ, what I'm trying to create is simple instructions for malware victims on how you can scan with MBAM and remove the foundings in Finnish. Basicly step-to-step instructions from installing MBAM, scanning your computer and removing threats and also informing the guy who helps the malware victim with .txt -files created by MBAM.

Best regards,

syndreas
