Continuous "database is out of date".

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes version 2.0.1.1004

Microsoft Windows 8.1 with service pack that was just released.

This problem keeps reoccuring. I have followed other thread guides on this problem.

Things I have tried:

Clicking update database.

Uninstalling through "Programs and Features" menu in control panel.

Using the mbam-clean program (this removes the program entirely along with my serial numbers so I know that its throughly cleaning)

I'll note the last option worked for a couple of days but it has reverted to "Database is out of date" continuous popup.

Thanks,

Dustin

Just to add an illustration....

How To Attach A File

1. Click on "More Reply Options" button.

2. Click on "Browse" button.

Navigate to the file (probably on your desktop, or wherever you saved it).

Double-click it to load it.

3. Click the "Attach This File" button.

Repeat for the other logs (there will be a total of 3 logs from the 2 scanners).

(with compliments to daledoc1 for providing the pictures)

These notifications stack, one behind the other, which is what causes this behavior. It is a known issue and will be resolved in a future release. In the meantime, you can at least reduce the number of notifications by changing the setting for notifying you about an out of date database. Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and go to 'Update Settings' under the 'Settings' tab and use the drop down menu next to 'Notify user if database is outdated by' to change it to a value greater than 1 day. Changing it to 2 or 3 days should eliminate the pop-ups assuming you run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on a daily basis and perform database updates when you do run it. If you're using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and haven't modified your scheduler settings, then the program will take care of updating the database for you as long as it has internet access.

Yes, I am using premium and my scheduled updates isn't checked. I checked them to update once an hour. Maybe that will help.

Having the box next to your scheduled items doesn't enable or disable them (yes, this is confusing and something we intend to change in a future release). That checkbox is just for selecting the items you wish to remove using the 'Remove Task' button. Any scheduled task will run automatically as long as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is running.
