Hello and :welcome:

Please create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post

Next, Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop
dds.scr
dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.
Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.
A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
  • You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file and just post it or attach it.

Hi, cittycat: :)

Until AdvancedSetup returns....

Hmmmmmmm, that doesn't look right.
The links that he provided you in his earlier reply >>HERE<< are to download a couple of computer diagnostic scanning tools, not BingBar. :(

Are you being redirected to some other site when you click the links he gave you?
If so, that, plus the fact that you are unable to enable website blocking, suggests that you could possibly be infected.
If you are unable to download even the preliminary tools, then sorting this out is likely to require some additional tools that we aren't permitted to use in this particular sub-section of the forum.

So I would suggest that you please follow the recommendations in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
One of the trained malware helpers will assist you for free with looking into this problem and getting it resolved.

Thanks,

Ah, OK.

However, it still looks as if you haven't paused your antivirus (AV) protection during the DDS download?

Usually, there is an option to do so if you right-click the program's icon in the system tray.

But here's the link from AdvancedSetup that explains how to do so:

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Be sure to re-enable your AV after completing the download and running the DDS tool (it only takes a few seconds to run).

How about the other tool, the mbam-check?
Any luck with that?

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post

Without these logs, at least for starters, it will be hard to sort this out. :(

Thanks for your patience,

Please see the following article from Microsoft on how to disable the SmartScreen Filter.

How to turn the Internet Explorer Phishing Filter or the SmartScreen Filter on or off

You will need to disable it to download the scanner.  Once done you can re-enable it.
