I came here because the same thing is happening on my system (win7). For now I have removed the tasks in Automated Scheduling but I would like MBAM to Check for updates in the background without MBAM opening to the notification area so when I do open MBAM manually I already have the lastest database. Yes... Start with Windows is disabled for me too.
