  1. Gooday mates I have the same high CPU consumption problem (Win XP Pro SP3) as I posted here What I did: I run separately dds.scr and dds.com and I submitted CheckResults.txt, DDS.txt and Attach.txt; no errors were found. Then I uninstall MBA 1.70 with mbam-clean-1.60.2.0003.exe following instructions in guide. I booted; I run Ccleaner and I run Tune up Utilities Registry Cleaner. I booted again. Then I reinstall MBA 1.75 following instructions and exclusions for Security Essentials. I booted again. The result: MBA clogged again CPU laptop. The Fix: I have to wait 10 minutes until CPU was free; then I open MBA and I unchecked/disconnected all services in protection module; I booted again and my machine was superfast. I will leave it like that until a reliable fixing is available. On the other hand, I did the same to my daughter desktop and my wife laptop; both run Win 7 64bit, 4GB RAM. In these MBA was not clogging the CPU but they were pretty slow, but after I stopped the protection module its speed blew up, amazing! Additionally, at weekends I am the IT guy in my suburb; I fix and speed up the machines of my neighbors (for me is fun and you know lots of people; and the extra cash is always welcome); and 90% of them have bought MBA thanks to my advice. Unfortunately all of them are experiencing slow machines with MBA Pro installed. Machines vary among XP, Vista and Seven; 32 & 64Bit. Therefore, currently it seems MBA is a resource eater. I have been with you since 2008 and I have tried everything (Trendmicro, Comodo, Norton, etc… all Pro versions, all of them a waste); the feature that I like, admire and respect of MBA was: high effectiveness and low resource consumption, it equals: peace of mind. Maybe the current approach is not right; have you consider a cloud based service/engine like Immunet Antivirus? If MBA can deploy something like that then MBA will be on top years light away of their competitors. I will not uninstall MBA, I will wait. And I will keep my classic XP machine (it’s kind of Ford Mustang 68 in IT terms) because I cannot stand the hesitation and questioning about every procedure and decision, i.e. UAC. Thank you, and I hope you can find a reliable and feasible solution; but no hurry, just do it right. Memo
  2. Gooday Firefox: First of all, thank you for your quick reply and your interest to solve this problem. I really appreciate it. Well, I did what you ask for precisely. I run mbam-check.exe, and I saved CheckResults.txt log. Then I run separately dds.scr and dds.com The scan made with dds.scr is called Scan with dds.scr.zip; and it has these files: CheckResults.txt, DDS.txt and Attach.txt The scan made with dds.com is called Scan with dds.com.zip; and it has these files: CheckResults.txt, DDS.txt and Attach.txt I hope it helps to solve this problem (kind of mystery) because the last thing that I want to do is uninstall MBA. Thank you, Memoecm2 Scan with dds.scr.zip Scan with dds.com.zip
  3. Gooday mates: Unfortunately MBA is clogging my CPU laptop. It lasts between 5 and 10 minutes after full log-on. It began more or less 10 days ago. Hardware Info: Laptop Compaq Presario 2500 Mobile Intel Pentium 4; CPU 3.06GHz 80GB HD 1GB RAM Software info: Win XP Pro SP3 fully updated & optimized Security software installed: - Microsoft Security Essentials: updated and exclusions applied to MBA as indicated in guides. - MBA Pro: updated and exclusions applied to Microsoft Security Essentials as indicated in guides. Screenshoot of the problem: Well, Can anyone help to fix this annoyance? ideas? Thank you, memo
  4. Gooday guys: My former wife sent me two emails. One to a Gmail account and the other to a Hotmail account. These don't say nothing at all but each one has a link as shown bellow: Gmail account: http://lv2.me/aM/?m=iev1c6vq&p=XXX Hotmail account: http://lv2.me/aM/?m=qsgkjb08&p=XXX Where XXX is the respective email account. I didn't click on, of course; and I copy the links to a shorcut; then sign out; then Ccleaner; then run and Windows Explorer and Firefox sand-boxed; then I click on the links but they ask to log-in in a live messenger account; then I stopped. So what's going on? what is the trick behind this links which title "sexy photos"?? Please advise ! Thanks

  7. Gooday mates: I posted it first in the False Positives Section without success and here we go. Well I have a question about a file called: oalinst.exe The file info as follows: ==================================================== C:\Program Files\OpenAL\oalinst.exe Size: 764 KB (782,336 bytes) Size on Disk: 764 KB (782,336 bytes) Created: Tuesday, 3 November 2009, 7:47:52 Modified: Thursday, 31 July 2008, 7:02:28 Accessed: Today, 18 October 2010, 3:04:38 Comment: Installs OpenAL32.dll (6.14.357.22) and wrap_oal.dll (2.1.8.1) Company: Creative Labs Inc. File Version: 2, 0, 3, 0 Internal Name: oalinst.exe Product Name: OpenAL Installer Product Version: 2, 0, 3, 0 Format profile : Executable / Intel i386 File size: 764 KiB Encoded date: UTC 2007-07-09 17:59:13 In the registry, it is in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\OpenAL ============================================================= Well, I don't remember to have installed this "application", I was just checking the Program Files Folder and I found this pearl. What is this? What does it do, or even better What is it doing? What does it come from? In fact is doing something because I tried to uninstall it with Revo and it warned me about it was being used by other programs; but which one(s)? I googleed the mystery and I found heaven and hell: Heaven: http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal It says: OpenAL is a cross-platform 3D audio API appropriate for use with gaming applications and many other types of audio applications. Hell: http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRJFGD511031/OALINST.EXE.html The link above is from Prevx; well it appears with a girl in a mood of nagging (just imagine your girl expression when you arrive late and a little bit drunk ) and it says that it is a Worm and/or Malicious Software; additionally, tells me I'm being traced !? Anyway I scanned with MB and with MS Essentials and nothing happened. I didn't know that I could upload a file here; so I will provide a Megaupload link and I will zipped it and upload it (two is better than one) Please let me know as much as you can about this file. It is in my 3 machines: wife: Vista Home Premium SP2 daughter and me: Win XP Pro SP3 My machines are fully updated and protected Thanks in advance for helping to solve this mystery. bye oalinst.zip

  10. Gooday mates: My preference for playing video/movies is The KMPlayer; it plays everything, it has internal codecs and it has a nice design/interface. My preference for editing video files is Avidemux (compact and reliable) and Auto Gordian Knot for ripping DVDs. My preference for playing audio files is AIMP2; it's small; low in resources and its sound fidelity is the best of all; It rips Cds better than any other tool; have a try and you won't regret about it. My preference for editing audio files is AVS Studio Editor; it's simple, effective and easy to use. My preference for image manipulation is the Pimp... upsss... sorry the Gimp; it has almost any tool to retouch and/or fix any kind of image and photo and the best is free. Nonetheless, I have used before VLC which is excellent too and the Little Codec Pack and its Media Player Classic Home Cinema. Winamp is very good too, overall to organize and auto-tag mp3 files, it rips CDs in high quality. These have been my positive experiences. On the other hand, my negative experiences playing and manipulating media have been: -windows media player: as IE=useless; annoys for everything. -real player: half part player and half part advertising. try to uninstall it and you will suffer a real-pain. -itunes: as music player is excellent but now come with lots of ads and quicktime; its size is ridiculous and half part of the time is updating and trying to install (rasta)safari. -nero: make honor to his source; it bloats the machine with fire. Much better ImgBurn. But at the end it's a matter of choice and it's up to everyone.... god bless democracy and freedom of choice ! Thank you,
  11. Gooday mates: My default browser is Firefox; it's customized and tweaked according my needs. Additionally, I use Opera which is fast and SRWare Iron, very fast too. I only use IE8 for OS customized updates and/or Micro$oft downloads that require IE . That's it!
  12. Well, I'm a 3rd generation of bloody migrants. Firstly, granny and grandpa were from Almendralejo, Extremadura in Spain. They flew due to the Spanish civil war to Colombia, South America. There they have my mum. Secondly, My father's family came from Getxco, The Vasque Country in Spain too. Same motives to go to Colombia. It's funny at that time Colombia was a peaceful place to live. Therefore I was born in Bogota, Colombia and when I was 28 y.o. I came to Melbourne to study and I decided to stay here: Downunda ! My wife is from Venezuela and we have a precious daughter. I live and breath for them. That's it mates !
  13. Swandog46: That's the kind of news that I want to hear about you. Good on you guys and keep it going. I reckon that MBA is a class apart organization with high standards through out all areas, so I cannot expect less from you (and I think that I'm talking for several MBA users). because I get used to your efficiency. hey Swandog, when you come to Melbourne I'll invite you to Gold Fingers.... ha ha ha see ya guys !
  14. Gooday mates: Sometime ago a mate was infected with "Worm:Win32/Vobfus.F" through a USB drive contaminated; additionally he had installed MBA full (real time protection) and MBA was totally innocuous about it. Finally, it was removed with MSS essentials. That issue was posted here So, Does the new MBA v1.45 have protection for malicious autorun.inf files? Thank you
