Notifications with version 2

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded version 2 and I don't see any notifications whatsoever anymore and I did have some in latest version. I would like to see when Malwarebytes is downloading any updates or anything else.

Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

Thanks!

I don't remember if I restarted my computer after install. What is the "clean install"? I would never thought that I should check the forum to see if a new version was installed "clean" :)

Where can I find this tool in this forum?

Many thanks!

Hi, Leweez:

Notifications in version 2.0 are quite a bit different from what they were in 1.75.
During beta testing, there were reports by some users that there were too many, and reports by other users that there were too few. ;)
As such, the team is working to refine this a bit for the next and future builds, in order to give users more control.

Having said that, they are still different -- for example, some "normal" functions (like a check for updates when there is no new database, scheduled scans that are "clean") do not produce the same notifications as in 1.75.
It does take some getting used to. This might help:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Users Guide Version 2.0
Online: http://www.malwarebytes.org/support/guides/mbam/
Download PDF: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/asset/mbamuserguide.pdf

Do you have a specific notification in mind that you are missing?

As far as rebooting the system, yes it is generally a good idea (especially for the Premium version) to "reboot" the computer after installing a new software version.

As far as "clean install", that means: did you remove any earlier version of MBAM from the computer before you installed version 2.0?

That is not strictly necessary, but is has helped a few folks to resolve minor upgrading issues.  The process is described here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

If you think you want or need to do that, and you need help, please just post back and someone will assist you.

Cheers,

The notifications I had in mind was also for the ones that is blocking malicious sites.  I know there were some because I saw it in my logs but never had the notifications.

No I didn't remove any earlier version of MBAM because when installing version 2.0, all my icons from earlier versions disappeared so I thought that they were all gone!

I will check the clean removal process for sure.

Many thanks!

I followed the clean install process, step-by-step, with "MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x" and everything seemed right during all the process. Waited for this morning to see if I would see notifications because I had these following schedules:

1)  Automated Scheduling: Threat Scan - Daily 1 day - Check for updates before scanning - Checked

2)  Automated Scheduling: Check for updates - Hourly 1 hour - Schedule Options:  Show notifications after successful update - checked

I did have a new database update and a threat scan has been made but never saw any notifications despite these settings:

- Notifications: Enabled
- Malware Protection: Enabled
- Enable self-protection module: unchecked

I feel something is wrong and I honestly don't feel completey "protected".  Go figure!
I was sure to have at least a notification that the scan was done...

Is it me or is it supposed to be this way now?
Many thanks for your help.

There is probably nothing wrong, a lot of notifications are turned off within the program and you currently have no way of enabling them, for example the notification of a successful update.

They are currently working on a program update that will give us way more features as far as notifications are concerned. So stay tune for a program update.
