Microsoft Free Windows Protection
mygoose replied to mygoose's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
I installed Brave browser and that was OK but I couldn't understand what to do with Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Chrome so I had to uninstall it. Talking to others I was told that Malwarebytes Premium will conflict with Defender and turn Defender off. Will it? My Defender has always been showing n the Notification Area in the bottom right of my PC. Now it's gone. Should it be there and how do I get it back? mygoose -

Thanks. This is the home page of my AOL. Why doesn't someone remove it? I wasn't going to have it, just curious about what is was and as soon as I opened it my MBAM Premium zapped it. Yes, I have Windows Defender included in my Windows 10. You'll be pleased to know that I am aware of it and I do keep it updated. Thanks for help. mygoose -

Thanks. I am sure that exile360 (and you) know more than I do (most than all of us really) but what puzzles me is that this being a scam I don't understand why Microsoft is giving out thousands of these from their premises (millions even) and thousands qeueing to grab them. I attach another copy of the PDF. mygoose PUP promotion.pdf -

Hello exile360 It's a long time since we spoke. It's Windows 10 and the "promotion" was repeatedly on the home page of my Internet provider AOL. (but has gone now) I have the link but it is clickable and I can't do anything about that. It was quarantined as a PUP. I wasn't going to have it, just curious what it was. It said there had been thousands of downloads and I would guess that AOL has removed it. Thanks as always mygoose -
Having had lots of messages promoting new Microsoft Free Protection for Windows I downloaded it. It is AV and my Malwarebytes Premium rejected it as unsafe. Can anyone explain please? mygoose

Thanks for your concerns. I had done that twice and still getting the error. They've told me that they are getting closer to what is wrong and Devlin is going to help me. Hopefully Firefox will help me with my USB stick lost data mygoose. -

I have had a message from exile360 saying that Devin should be able to get Malwarebytes working again hopefully. I haven't heard again from Devlin yet. exile360 message also asked about Firefox's recovery software. In my post #49 above I said I preferred Firefox's suggestion and asked Firefox to help me. mygoose. -
