  1. Hey I got sent a file, it was an EXE, cant say what it is, but it came up as a hacktool or something, from a trusted friend, but he said he's used it for years and no problem... Could it be a false negative? Anyways MSE blocked it before i could do anything. Im not too sure if i should use it though :/ (cant say what im going to use it for either). Its a win32 hacktool medium threat or something.
  2. hey im thinking of installing spyware guard but i read the database is like 6 years out of date and is never updated anymore... http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html#FAQ says last time was 2004...
  3. i scanned it and it said it was safe... wait i think i installed it wrong... im going to try to install the program one more time and see if that fixes it... but the dll came up as clean, and had been scanned before, with 2 good reviews saying goodware. Seems ok i guess...
  4. no its not a microsoft DLL, and its a software dll, i did reinstall but still didnt work so i need to download the dll. How do i verify if its the same MD5 dll? Like i search google but then what?
  5. how guys... how do i check if a DLL is safe or not? I need to download it, or want to, but im not sure if safe or not... can you guys give me some advice on how to check?
  6. nooo nooo im not infected, but i need to download one as its apparantly missing... but not sure if safe... Link removed i will be downlaoding it from this site but not sure if safe... (sory wont be posting which dll it is.. but need a way to identify if its safe )
  7. is it possible for DLL files to have viruses? will scanning them be enough if they can be malicouse?
  8. thank you very much, i have unzipped the file, and i have also scanned, no virus definitions came up.
  9. i had bad expereince with avast, kaspersky costs money which i do not have
  10. How do i go about scanning iso files for viruses. I had zip files and i unzipped them and it came up with an iso file. I scanned with both microsoft security essential and malwarebytes free and nothing came up. any ideas?
  11. ok i did as you said, and did the full format, hopefully all the viruses are gone
  12. Ok so i turned off autorun on my pc, and i put in my external hard drive, 500GB, and when i try to do a normal format to ntfs it doesnt work, just takes damn ages (probs looking for bad boot sectors on hdd), but quick format does the job quickly and easily, if i suspect, dont know if there is or not, but if i suspect thre are viruses in that hard drive, is quick format enough? Or is it really reccomended to do a full format?
