If you are having any problems with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware protection please do the following.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

2. Restart your computer (very important).

3. Download and run this utility.

4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).

5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here.

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail.

Sorry about that. I downloaded the paid version of MBAM and after registering I pushed the start protection button and the error of 372 (downloaded to 64bit program). I tried following the steps Rubberducky listed and it did not work for me. What do I need to do since my computer has the 64 bit system?

McAfee currently has a FALSE POSITIVE set in their definition files that thinks that MBAM is a Virus or Trojan.

You need to contact McAfee support and complain to them. We have already alerted them, but the more users that complain hopefully the faster they will correct their database and remove MBAM from their list. This is not the first time that McAfee has done this.

At this time aside from disabling and attempting to create your own ignore list within McAfee there is nothing else that can be done until they fix it.

I have posted on the McAfee Forum also and looks like they are "working" on it:

I recently registered and enabled protection, and now every time I boot up I get the message "The Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Protection Module is already running!" with an OK button. I tried the uninstall/mbab-clean/install procedure and that didn't help. How do I fix this problem?

Also, as I write this a few minutes after booting up, I get the message "[shell_NotifyIcon] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 0".

Operating system is Windows XP Pro.

I have just installed the latest version of Anti-Malware on a host of machines. After entering my registration number and setting up my Protection tab, I have a couple problems.

1) Upon startup, the mbamservice never starts. When I log in, there is no tray icon. If I start the service, the tray icon shows up and the service stops. If I start it again, then it stays running.

2) A couple computers are receiving a popup error message stating "[OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2". This happens after being logged in for a couple minutes.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Sam

Hi:

I'm having problems with the protection module errors.

This is what I get:

[Open Event] Failed to performed desired action. Error Code: 2

This usually only happends when I log out and log back in.

If I restart the computer it would load properly on the system tray.

Now, I have already tried to un-install the program as per instruction here in the forum but still

doesn't want load in the system tray; unless I restart the computer.

I have the lastest version of Anti-malwarebytes 1.33

Running Windows XP Pro. Service Pack 3

Thanks in Advance.

I have followed these instructions but reactivating the program using the license doesn't work. I don't understand mbam-clean.exe, it is the same as uninstalling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?
