MBAM threat scan causes BSOD under Windows 7 (64-bit)

Recommended Posts

Hello Malware Bytes support,

I have recently updated my MBAM premium version to the latest v. 2.0.1.1004 under Windows 7 (64-bit).

Additionally I use Avast (free version) antivirus to protect my PC.

The recent version is causing my computer to crash with the dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSOD) which has never ever happened before with any other program since the past 3 years life of my computer.

I looked online and found another similar post with the recommendation of turning the root-kit scan off under MBAM settings which I had enabled when I first installed the latest verison (v2...)

However nothing has changed and my PC continues to freeze and crash whenever the scan runs.

Please advice.

Hello and :welcome: , KWM:

Sorry to hear about the BSOD, even with ARK (Anti-Rootkit) scanning disabled.

Question: is your hard drive encrypted (BitLocker, SecureDoc or other encryption)??

To help the staff to determine the cause and solution, please read the following and post back the requested logs as attachments to your next reply:

Diagnostic Logs

They will review the logs and advise you further.

Thanks,

Thanks for your prompt reply daledoc1 and also for welcoming me to this forum.  :)

As you have suggested, I am including the diagnostic logs as an attachment with this post.

Hopefully any experts out there can help diagnose the reasons for the crash.

And BTW, I do have a partition encrypted with TrueCrypt but that never was a problem with the previous versions of MBAM which were quite solid and stable.

I immensely appreciate your help guys!

Thank you.
