cannot get scheduler to run update or scan

Recommended Posts

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro BootCamped running Win7 Pro 64bit, I installed Malwarebytes Pro and set up a scheduled update and scan, neither will run. I disabled Microsoft Security Essentials, deleted the schedules and reinstalled them, no joy. I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reinstalled, setup the schedules and still no luck.

I also have an installation on my wife's hp laptop, also running Win 7 Pro but 32bit and also running Microsoft Security Essentials, I set up the schedules in it and it runs them perfectly, can someone help me figure out why it won't run on the BootCamped MBP?

Hello and :welcome:

Good to hear you got them working, let us know if you did not and perhaps we can figure it out together....

It worked once, but not again... I shutdown the firewall and MSE, uninstalled, cleaned out the registry and reinstalled, setup the schedule and enabled MSE and the firewall but the schedule never ran. I don't get why it ran once, I went through the same steps as last time but it just won't go now. Both the scan and the update ran the one time that that scheduler did work.

Looks like we need to look into the problem a little further...

Please run the tools below and ATTACH (do not copy and paste) the logs so someone can better assist you.

Please post an mbam-check log:

Create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please attach the CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next reply
Next:

Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop

dds.scr

dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool

Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.

A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply "as an attachment": DDS.txt and Attach.txt

You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file in most cases.

Difficult to say for sure.  Your computer is certainly having issues.  I would suggest following the advice from the topic here Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

If it turns out the computer is not infected then come back here and we'll see if there is anything else we can do.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I switched it to an hourly update/scan and those both work just fine. I have it set to daily once again and will watch it tomorrow and make sure the computer is awake for the scan. I know that if it misses the update/scan it will not run even if it's set for 23 hours; I saw that happen once again this morning.
