  1. Good day to you! I made a bit of progress with my new external hard drive over the weekend. I have one question though: I was able to get most, if not all, of my files transferred over, however when I tried saving the C:\ file, I received messages saying I needed administration rights to transfer certain files. Is that something I should be saving to the external hard drive or will that be addressed when we do the cloning? I figured it was worth trying no matter what. Fortunately my computer has been working quite well for the last week+, however it seems to believe today is the day to rest and move s l o w l y. Once it's cooperating again, I'll verify everything made it to the external hard and may be ready to start the hard drive replacement process. I hope you are having a great day! Pcemkr 🐢
  2. Hello! So good news...my external and hard drives arrived yesterday! Yay! It turns out they lost my original order and had to resend...most interesting. Glad they are finally here. Fortunately my computer has been running fairly well since our last communication, so I am quite grateful for that! I will try to see about getting started on the external hard drive backup today or tomorrow. 2 things about that: 1) there aren't many instructions included, so I'm guessing either it's very intuitive to use or there will be more instructions on the website, correct? 2) what's up with all the warnings about EMF & radio frequency, "harmful effects" and "harmful communication interference"? Is there something I should know or be aware of about using this?? Once I get started on or complete the backup, I will let you know and we can walk through this together as you have time. Sound good? Have a great day! Pcemkr
  3. Hi Nathan, Both tasks completed as requested! ✔✔ Thank you, Pcemkr
  4. Hello, About my cell phone: Carrier is AT&T Samsung Alpha Version 5.0.2 Rooted??-unsure security= Malwarebytes and Lookout My phone started running slower a few months ago, around the time there was an obscene abundance of updates being made to many programs & apps. Plus it was noticeably slower between & around the 3:00-5:00 p.m. time frame almost every afternoon. Also, once in a great while the phone gets hot, but it doesn't last (I believe I read that is sometimes a sign of infection, although Malwarebytes hasn't found anything). Things have progressively slowed and morphed as time goes by. ~Google (Chrome) internet slows or freezes up momentarily or (recently) gives a message that it isn't working do I want to report/wait/close (*note: I received a message from Lookout a couple of weeks ago saying that Chrome had a "vulnerability detected" 5 years ago. It appeared on or around the same day their latest update came out. I didn't allow the update to happen due to what I was reading from other users and the major issues they were having after running the update), *suggestions for alternate internet access are welcome* ~messaging sometimes freezes up briefly or wants to close, ~the battery has moments when it drains super fast, it may shut off completely (even though there is enough battery life to keep it going), ~rebooting can take minutes or it will loop in a continuous reboot unless I plug it in during startup (then it comes up just fine). Somewhere along the way my phone changed a setting to automatically update everything, which I changed back to asking me before doing when I discovered). Also, a few weeks ago, my ringtones weren't playing correctly, although my settings hadn't changed. I rarely add new apps to my phone and have many many of the preloaded apps that I do not use and would like to either remove or disable if I knew which ones weren't going to immobilize the whole system (they really put a lot of fear around touching those programs...sheesh). For the most part, the phone works great! I don't need the latest, greatest most gadgety phone out there, I like the simplicity of this one (and have a history of good experience with the Samsung Androids). I do have some cleanup to do with old text messages and getting photos off my phone to free up some space, otherwise it's been a really great phone for me. Are you able to assist me with this? Thank you, Pcemkr
  5. Hello, My apologies for the delay in responding...life 😊 I understand drawing a line somewhere and good choice making it phones. I will start a post as you suggested. I have a Samsung Alpha approximately 5 yrs old. Interestingly, it's been running fairly well the past few days. I continue to pay attention to the patterns, so hopefully it's enough to narrow down the issue quickly. Update on my computer: I am still waiting for my new hard & external hard drives to be delivered. *sigh* Any day now and I'm sure it'll be just in time. In the meantime, my computer has been booting up pretty well each day without issues. I'm actually on it now! Small victories.✋ Thanks, Pcemkr
  6. I have a question unrelated to this topic & hoping you can direct me appropriately... My android cell phone has been having issues for a bit and has moments of moving quite slowly, battery running down quickly and shutting off on its own.. Unsure if it is infected, overloaded from the amazingly abundant amount of updates that took place over a few months time or possibly ready for replacement. (*Malwarebytes hasn't flagged anything on my phone.) I need to proceed cautiously with addressing the cell phone issues as I need it as backup to communicate with you (and the rest of the world😊) until my computer issue is resolved (which I am counting on it going swiftly and smoothly😉). I know there is a "follow instructions on the pinned topic first" page, however I am reticent to do anything just yet. Can you recommend the best starting point to begin addressing or assessing this? Thank you! Pcemkr
  7. Hello! My new hard drive and external hard drive are due to arrive today. Checking in to give you a heads up that I will most certainly have questions as I step into and through this process. Steady as she goes! 🏔️ Cheers, Pcemkr
  8. Wow! That is a good price! I don't know that I would need that much, but I say go for it & give yourself a nice treat! Enjoy!🎁⚾🏀🏀🏀🏀⚾
  9. Hello! I want to apologize...apparently I did not read your previous message as clearly as I thought, so I'm sorry to have you repeat yourself. Your timing was good & everything has been ordered and will be here in a couple of days. Yay. In the meantime, everything is working well today! I am quite grateful for that and will keep getting myself and things prepped & in order for the change. Thank you much! Cheers! Pcemkr
  10. Thank you, that is helpful! My current external hard drive is 1T and it may have about 400 GB available. It didn't appear to complete in safe mode, but it also seemed to give me a message that it didn't have enough to save everything if it did work, I'll try again in normal mode. It's looking like your 2T suggestion may be beneficial though. Perhaps you could assist me with hard drive suggestions? As it is now, I'll probably have to go someplace local (like best buy) to ask for assistance locating one unless you can suggest one I can also order from amazon. Is this something you are comfortable doing? Thanks! Pcemkr
  11. Thank you Kevin, I appreciate your confidence in me... it is helpful. 😊 I have a couple of questions: ~ I currently have a WD My Passport external hard drive with an old backup on it from 3 yrs ago. It may not be large enough for an updated backup, though I'm wondering if... - would it be beneficial for me to get a new & larger one? - the easiest way for me to navigate the system right now is in safe mode, are you aware if such a backup can take place in safe mode or is it better to do in normal mode? ~ Does using Aomei make my previous question(s) obsolete? ~ will cloning save/transfer things like my music, pictures, etc. (I have all my docs, etc. saved on USB)? I may try to get everything lined up to try & accomplish this weekend (fingers crossed). More questions to come I'm sure Thanks! Pcemkr
  12. Happy Thanksgiving! It's thanksgiving for me too. I would very much appreciate your assistance and guidance with this! Like I mentioned earlier, I have some tech experience, but it's been over 10 yrs and I honestly cannot remember imaging or replacing hard drive (tho I'm sure I did with close instruction)... I'm able to follow directions (and have screw drivers)😆 A day off from this would be welcome. Enjoy your day! I am grateful for you (both) Thank you! 😆
  13. It does seem it validated what you were saying. I have a feeling I may need to get assistance with a new hard drive and creating an image. I have an external hard drive I saved to a few years ago, i saved several importantfiles yesterday on a USB. With the state my system is in now, unsure if it can handle another round of backup there. Not looking forward to this as next step...perhaps it can be more painless than I imagine? Looks like I'll be eating this elephant one bite at a time. So it sounds like I may want to focus on backing up & saving as much as possible while looking for new SSD hard drive? Onward and Upward, Pcemkr
  14. Hi, Just checking in... I ran VAIO basic diagnostic and it said there was a hard drive issue. It suggested running a memory check - No memory issues detected. It then suggested running check disk, so I ran it again in elevated command prompt. It took several hours. There was a message saying it couldn't repair something and needed to restart. I sent it to restart, was able to ligin fine, however have had to wait for the main screen to come up fully. Am doing my best to work with patience and avoid too many hard reboots. Hoping to get further along to do a more thorough VAIO scan plus send most recent information to you. Wish me luck! Thanks, Pcemkr
  15. Hello! I am running (many) diagnostics and will send updates as soon as I have results. More soon. Thanks, Pcemkr
