  1. Check out the attachment and you will see I have identified the Trojan Horse (I think). Now I have to figure out how to delete it. I tried to follow the steps in your previous posts but RootRepeal did not work. I may not be following the steps exactly, I don't know. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox a couple of times and it still crashes. IE gives me a message that it has stopped working. I have reinstalled IE also. I still can't get the Malware program to run. That may be a step forward if it ran. I may end up buying a external hard drive, save my important stuff, reformat and install Vista, but I would like to see if can figure out how to fix the computer first as a learning experience. Thanks for you help. I appreciate your time.
  2. I did as instructed and recieved this dialog box. I did find this file ESQUL but root repeal would not wipe it out and I got the dialog box attached. Thanks for your help. I think I'm getting closer to solving the problem.
  3. Quick note - I managed to copy over the Malwarebytes (mbam-setup) on my computer but when I click the icon nothing happens.
  4. Thanks for your reply, Yardbird. I have Vista Home Addition Premium. I have AVG, the free version, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, which I've never touched. I have DSL Internet service with ATT. They couldn't get me connected. I ran Glarysoft Registry Repair, fixed what it suggested. I have CCleaner, which I have used and may have screwed up the Regitry for all I know. After I sent this post I'll connect my sick computer to the internet cable and attempt to update it. Thanks for you help. I hope I supplied you with enough info Dave
  5. I checked IE while it was trying to run and in options saw where it is set on "online". Firefox will only open a box telling me it has crashed. I think your idea implies I have installed a Maleware Program, which I can't since I can't get online. I'm a real dummy here. I don't know what program to use to set the parameters your are talking about. Sorry for being a computer illterate. I can download something on my lap top to a junk drive if that might work. Thanks for any help
  6. I didn't see any post concerning this problem I'm having. My internet connection is good, (I updated my AVG utility), but IE and Firefox fall to open an internet connection. All other programs seem to work fine. I had a computer repairman look at it and said he couldn't find anything wrong with the computer. I'm not sure if I have a virus or I somehow screwed up the Registry files or any other files for that matter. I looked at web sites at work and all seem to suggest downloading something, but problem is, I can't download something if I can't get on the web. Can I download something from another computer to a junk drive and install it on my machine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
