  1. John, thank you for the status update. Then through a private communique mban development management acknowledged the readability issues for their new UI. You have given me a pause and hope that development will try to accommodate low vision users. John, if you hear more from the private forums or etc, will you keep me in mind. I can always find time to not just voice my perspective on low vision issues, but can also explain issues on why poor CONTRASTSENSITIVITY is improved by yellow text. Much the same reason that hunters, late evening drivers may have improved contrast by use of yellow / amber tint eye glasses. Also, same reason used the yellow text on their HIGH CONTRAST #1 theme to allow other applications and UI's to inherit the Microsoft high contrast theme. This theme stopped working on the mban 2.x UI. Worked will for many years both VISTA, Windows 7 and Windows 8 with older mban 1.75 release. Anyways, with the information you furnished me I can express hope of mban considering the readability aspects; as you stated a re-design to improve the accessibility the UI for low vision users of mban products. John, wish you a good weekend. , Jaime Guerra
  2. John Gait, I took your suggestion and went reading through the beta forums. I was hoping that somewhere the development team would have responded with more solutions for the UI issues. I have the new version installed in some of my clients systems. I am embarrassed having to ask around for someone to actually read me the configuration settings panes on the latest release. My clients have been helpful and some have found out that they probably have early issues of discerning the subtle differences in the contrast between white background and light gray text of the new GUI. I posted on another 2.0.1 forum, where I found developers in the mix, but seems they have not managed to respond my post or figure it is too hard to improve the GUI readability aspect of the mban 2.0 app. I personally miss the manb 1.75 since it accepted the Microsoft inverted images. I will focus my UI opinions to this forum since it is focused on UI issues. John if you hear back from developers on this UI readability issues on another forum let me know. I am muddling through reading old posts from the beta testing time frame. If you hear about a new beta test on a UI improvement I will be monitoring this forum. I would like to participate to give the developers a perspective from a low vision user community. Thanks again for steering me to the beta forums, they are rich in discussion but still seems the UI ease of readability has taken a back seat to make it pretty vs easy to read. Anyways, wish you a good day. Jaime A. Guerra
  3. I would like to state, I have sight impairments that require me to use Microsoft accessibility tools. What I use is the HIGH Contrast #` theme. This theme is accepted by many 3rd party apps give a black background and yellow or white text. It is easy to see how a low vision mbam user used v 1.75. 1.75 would inherit the changes. Anyone can follow how it enables users with sight disabilities to level use IE, word, thunderbird, and of course mbam 1.75. Takes 5 seconds to change modes. 1. On windows desktop empty desktop section just right click 2. when the dropdown box opens select personalize and click again. (you may have to scroll down) 3. Go to the HIGH Contrast theme's and you can see HIGH CONTRAST #1 at work. (if you did this correct you will see a black screen with white / yellow text) 4. open mabn 1.75 under high contrast mode and easy to read by users with retina diseases, cornea, macula or capsule bag issues where a bit of contrast is needed. Now it does not provide pretty pictures, but we had full access to mban's technology without all because the HIGH CONTRAST theme is inherited by the 1.75 app. But everything is easily seen even by the low vision crowd. 5. Now the fun starts, on early April I got the update and discovered that mban 2.x does not work with the Microsoft HIGH CONTRAST theme. I see less then most of you and I see white backgrounds with a bit of washed out gray text. A low vision user may have color blindness, or because of retinal or age related issues the CONTRAST SENSITIVITY is diminished. Here is what I see when you have a white background and light gray fonts. Since I no longer have strong CONTRAST SENSITIVITY I can not see the subtle gray fonts with the white background. I know the text is there, because my clients and wife tell me. I do IT Consulting and rely on those HIGH CONTRAT features that are provided by Microsoft or the goodness of the application developers to perform my everyday activity. One more point one of owners of a mortage company said on bright light days the new mban also tough for him to read me the text from the new v2.0 screens. He smiled and handed me off to a younger staff member who moved right in front of the display screen to help me configure v2.0. Now this would be no problem, for the millions of low vision users, Here is how AVG or Panda cloud Cleaner worked around, they have a dark skin and white text enough contrast to satisfy needs of users who require access. I was going to reply at some of the previous forums, but seems they are now locked or limited. They are solutions as I read on some of the locked beta forums. Some are to provide a switch to go to classic mode vs graphics, other solution is to provide a HIGH CONTRAST skin for those with sight impairment issues. Regardless, mban is powerful malware technology and I consider this product one of the few that can actually neutralize some issues that a standard AV can not. I do recommend and have been using this product for many years now. I just need to be able to see it a bit better to use, configure, edit schedule scans and analyze history logs. If any of the project managers or developers wish to bounce off any UI or GUI subject matter, I would be glad to give you my personal opinion from a sight impaired user. Just email or feel free to call me. I can not blame the developers many software engineers just need to be aware of accessibility issues. Now for those users that actually switched from Windows Classic type mode to HIGH CONTRAST MODE, DON'T forget to switch back to your favorite Microsoft theme. I on the other had have to remain in this mode to read and enjoy the use of a PC. you all have a good day, Jaime Guerra
  4. I to have been experiencing blank pages, failure to connect and slow web response after the mbam 2 update. I turned off AVG just to make sure it was NOT the AVG anti-virus, but it seems that it is a mbam 2 issue. Anyone figure how to speed up and stabilize the browsing experience with 2.0? Thanks, Jaime Guerra
  5. I would like to add a few items to the new UI issues that John started on. For users who use low vision access tools such as HIGH CONTRAST #1 themes on Windows platform the old release would inherit the low vision inverted image. Easy to check out, just go to personalize and select the HIGH Definition #1 theme (takes 10 seconds). On the previous malwarebytes release the app would accept / inherit the black background and yellow text. This makes it easy for low vision users to see. But the new UI does not accommodate low vision High Contrast #1 properties. Developers please compare how readable the prevous UI was especially with the Microsoft High Contrast theme, then upate to the new UI and one can see how difficult it is to read. Even my wife who is not sight impaired noticed the difference in being able to read, configure and change settings from the previous UI to the NEW UI. This bright white background with small light gray fonts absolutely do not accommodate users who may have weak vision. I am hoping that other users may have suggestions or the developers are possibly working on this. I do understand that for GUI some applications will allow changes to the background and ability to increase font size especially when they are GUI apps that do not inherit the Microsoft HIGH Contrast themes. Several alternatives to strengthen the access to make this GUI a bit more friendly to those who depend on accessibility tools (large fonts, dark background and bolder fonts). Malwarebytes developers you have a good malware cleaning tool, but the UI is very poor. John thank you for starting this UI topic to discuss the UI. Thank you, Jaime Guerra
