  1. I am really sorry, but I have had to uninstall MB. Completely. Forever. You need to have some face-to-face with Norton. They are basically giving us a choice of you or them, at the moment. They aren't being very helpful in resolving this issue, on their own forums. I am really pissed off, because I paid for MB. I am a licensed user. And Norton keeps telling me it is incompatible and must be uninstalled or NIS won't be able to protect me properly. It is even saying this to people who only have the freeware version of MB. And it is definitely not advised to have both NIS and MB doing real-time protection. (I can understand that factor, I can see how the two might get into conflicts as to which one of them is going to deal with an issue that does threaten a computer. But then, why pay for MB? There is no reason to pay for it, other than the real-time protection.) That we are also getting this warning with the freeware MB is what really gets me choked up and makes me think they just don't like you, and are trying to drum you out of business. I think MalwareBytes Co. needs to deal with them company to company. Maybe even sue them.
  2. I still get the incompatibility notice, but I click skip, knowing that I am not running the real time protection, and MB shouldn't interfere with Norton updates.
  3. Yeah, I had to reinstall again, this time unchecking the protection module and automatic protection updates when I put in my product key. It seems you have to run it without real time protection, if you are running NIS, but then you need the licensed version of MB to be able to schedule updates and scans. I've programmed mine to do daily updates with a flash scan at that time, daily quick scans in the evenings, and monthly full scans. I guess that is going to have to do me, for MB, unless/until Norton can make itself compatible with MB. I understand MB is forever playing catch-up with the AV software programs, and I guess this is an instance when MB didn't play catch-up with Norton quickly enough. I have never had an incompatibility notice from Norton re MB, before, and I have been running both programs side-by-side for a couple of years.
  4. OK, I am giving this a try. I used the cleanup tool, disabled my Norton AV and Firewall, reinstalled MalwareBytes and entered my product key, so this is again running real time protection, updated MB, added those files to the exclusions for Norton Auto-protect, enabled my AV and Firewall again. We shall see if, the next time I run Norton Live Update, I get the message about incompatibility and telling me to uninstall MB... Thanks for all your time, folks. We'll see how it goes. But I will keep an eye on the Norton Forum, to see what Norton winds up doing about it... if anything. Some people in the relevant thread at the Norton Forum are uninstalling MB, but I don't want to, unless I absolutely have to.
  5. IOW, the conflict is for real. It is not going to be fixed with file exclusions. MalwareBytes real time protection is still going to be interfering with Norton updates. Norton is working on this. I do not know if this would have any application to people with the freeware version of MalwareBytes. Does not sound like it.
  6. Norton support says to click the "skip" button on the AutoFix popup. They say Norton is working on it. Apparently there is an issue with MalwareBytes real time protection and Norton's updates. They say to keep an eye on the forums for further information.
  7. DarkSnakeCobra, yes - that is the only file I have. I have a Windows 32 bit system, btw, not 64 bit. So which of the five files listed at the reference link do I really need to exclude:Please add each of the following files to the "Auto-Protect Exclusions" list in Norton 360: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  8. BTW, when it comes to file exclusions, I am a licensed user of MB, I do not even have this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  9. I am not running Norton 360, I just have NIS. I can't see a way to follow the instructions at the last link you posted in NIS, because NIS is not like Norton 360. So where do I put the exclusions in NIS? If you can tell me, I would appreciate it.
  10. Actually, I had a chat with Norton, who came on my computer and checked my NIS out. They said it is working fine, that the conflict message can be ignored. Are you saying my MB is not working fine? We know there have been some serious issues with MB this week, and that the company is working on it. I assume this very first conflict message from NIS is connected with that, and that MB will get it sorted out. Am I mistaken? You really think I should follow the steps you have suggested?
  11. This is the first time I have ever gotten an error notification from NIS about MB
  12. Norton Internet Security 20.3.1.22 Error: 3048, 3 Windows 7 Professional 7601.18113.x86fre.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533 Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s) Conflicting Product - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 1.75.0.1300 :: Skipped
  13. You could click on the wrench at the top right of the notification and change the settings to "hide icon and notifications", but I found that when I ran an update on MB this afternoon, and got the latest, I could change the settings back to "show notifications only", and I am not being bothered anymore.
  14. It hasn't been removed as far as my MB is concerned. I finally got so fed up I just used the wrench icon on the notification to change the setting. MB is no longer going to be annoying me with constant notifications concerning something it has blocked. But I am a little concerned about the other issue that has been reported. The business about the system being quarantined by MB, and getting a black screen so you can't even run the Windows Repair Disk you have made. I am thoroughly backed up with an external hard drive doing real time backup of my data, and it also has a pretty up-to-date system image on it. But I am wondering if it is safer to NOT have MB on my computer than to have it, if MB itself can so corrupt a person's system?
