  1. Hi Gammo, Thank you so much for all your help and advice. It is reassuring to know that my machine is clean again. I also found the extra tips very interesting and will act on them - as well as educating all the other users of my computer Once again, many thanks for your help.
  2. Hi Gammo, I have followed your instrutions. Here is the latest MBAM report as requested ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 5111 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 14/11/2010 10:25:51 mbam-log-2010-11-14 (10-25-51).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 140207 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 22 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There were no infected files found on the ESETScan so there was no text file of threats to save and include in this reply. There is also an icon which has just appeared on my desktop which is partly transparent with 2 cog wheels on it. It is named Thumbs.db . Can I just delete that? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for your reply Gammo. I have followed your instructions and have attached the combofix log. ComboFix.txt
  4. Hi, I have just detected and removed some nasties including trojans from my system using malwarebytes. Just to be on the safe side, I wonder if anyone can have a quick glance at my HijackThis Log to make sure there is nothing bad remaining. I would be very grateful and thanks in advance.
