  1. so that's your answer for me? remove xp?what about others having this issue? i told you i tried your posted remedy, and it didn't work. this is also happening on my wife's xp sp1 machine. glad i didn't purchase your product. hate to have an issue, and it is 100% fail because it can't get the updates it needs...
  2. used the REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0... nothing. still the error. i hate xp anyways, so it's coming off this box.
  3. why would any app use ie settings? it's a horrid bloated malware catching thing. god it's bad. are there any other apps that do what mbam does, but are independent of internet exploder?
  4. haven't made any changes to ie7 (maybe lowered it's settings?) as i us ff. this is on a machine running xp 32bit sp3. i tried it on my workstation at home, running server 2008 r2 x64, and it updates flawlessly (installed it 5 minutes ago. i uninstalled the version i had on the xp box, reinstalled the latest version, and get the error i posted). both boxes have ie security settings set to medium, both have the firewall disabled, and both have ff as the default browser, updated to latest version.
  5. i can run the program, but can't update. tried all the patches/ie and firewall (not running it) adjustments, and have no other security apps installed/running:
