  1. Same here. I can't help but think this is a false alarm. I'm grateful that Malwarebytes, both software & company, are great at sorting this stuff out and getting to heart of the matter
  2. Well my experience differs and I should have been clearer. I have done fresh installs of Windows and have installed all of the latest updates and all of the latest drivers and have still have had warnings and errors. I've yet to see one be totally clean right out of the box, but perhaps I'm "cursed" and not as blesses as you in that regard. Yes I know they are "snake oil", but I use them to diagnose not to "rape" the registry. Then I got hunt for the files and make the corrections if I can, rerun the registry scans, and hopefully see the "problem" come up resolved. I installed Skype the other day and it had 16 Active X/Com control issues from the get go right after installation using the mild CCleaner. I just put them on ignore so they won't show up in scans anymore. By the way, I was remiss in now thanking you for taking the time your valuable time to look into this matter with me and I appreciate it AdvancedSetup. Thank you. Thank you also daledoc1 also. So far since I've removed the Malewarebytes module from the context menu I've not had a freeze in using the right click. Something else I have not had a code integrity event report either on a Bitdefender file that was constantly being reported for the last few days. Day before yesterday I sent Bitdefender an email regarding the file integrity event persistent reporting about a hash on the file and although I never heard back from them the event stopped suddenly. in the early morning hours after I had removed the malwarebytes module from the context menu. So I don't know if there is any relation between the two whatsoever, if Bitdefender looked into the matter confirmed a problem and did an update, or if a demon spirit from Apple fled my Windows PC to parts unknown. That problem I'm glad to see gone. Anyway thanks again....

  4. Well it's working fine, but the errors can drive one nuts and I could tweak it and myself to death. I use to do that with registry editors. When I did the fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 before I did anything else I checked the events viewer and I was getting errors and warnings. Added the up to date drivers to my NEW system from the vendor, i.e. MSI, after the fresh install of Windows, and I had red errors and warnings. No I'm not happy with the freezes so please don't misread what I'm saying. There is a lot of coding crap out there beyond our control. Much of it is Microsoft and it wouldn't be any better if it was Linux or Apple either. Their partners aren't perfect either. I've added products from third party vendors and did a registry check and found missing .dll's and other registry errors along with event errors and warnings. If the freezes should continue I won't be happy. I will do what I can do on my end, but I can only do so much. I can't rewrite code and I will tinker where I can and share with vendors possibilities, but even if I were to rebuild the computer again....same situation as before I'd still have errors and warnings. The only way to end them all is to format my disks and use the computer as a paper weight and yes these errors and warnings WILL bug the heck out of me to no end.....BUT everytime I reload and reinstall my OEM legitimate license of Windows 7 I'm sure Microsoft begins to wonder what I'm up to and how many computers and I'm installing my legitimate software on which is only this one computer. One one day I did it twice because I made the mistake of installing the system files on one internal drive and Windows on the other (or rather Windows did it for me automatically) and I found out when I couldn't do backup because they were split between both drives and I had already activated Windows. So I had to do it all over again and activated it again on the same day. Thought I was going to have a fight on my hands dreading it all the way, but it went through. The month before I noticed in Events their Software Protection Verification reporting back some question about the legitimacy of my Windows after I did some research. I said "Sheesh" for I bought it, i.e. OEM version, legitimately from NewEgg for the computer I assembled, so I cleaned off my hard drive and did a fresh install reactivating then too for the second time then. So I guess that makes now 4 times on the same machine and I hate calling in and going through that routine for activation, if it doesn't do it automatically, particularly when you get someone who speaks English with gravel in their mouths, which makes me almost want to go to Linux for good instead of just playing with it in VMware Player. LOL well that's my gripe for today. Thanks for being a good listener. Yes those will bug me and I do spend more time researching it seems system event errors and warnings than I do enjoying the internet and news these days. I should have taken up golf instead.
  5. Thank you AdvancedSetup for your response. It very well could be a software conflict. I'm beginning to believe it's just bad coding. I'm also beginning to believe one of the worse things one can do is read the events viewer, i.e. perhaps ignorance is bliss. If it weren't for the events review er I would think there was very little wrong. For example, my SkyDrive reports repeated failure; however, I've gone to the Microsoft forums and I find that is a very very common complaint with people speaking of the same issues I see happening in my events and my SkyDrive is working and syncing just fine. Therefore, it's a problem with the coding. I see repeated timeouts, errors, and warnings with my various USB drivers "not being recognized" but you wouldn't know it but for the events viewer. All drives, including plug-in USB drives and USB flash drives working fine showing up in device manager with drivers operating as I need them when I need them without even a hint of a problem.....BUT FOR an event viewer screaming "WOLF"!!!! . I get this message too "Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0026833B3E8D. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server,"; yet I'm connecting to the internet through my router just fine also. I have not had the white screen or frozen explorer window/taskbar (knock on wood) since I used ShellExView v1.76 from Nirsoft to disable the Context menu Malwarebytes Anti-Malware "MBAMShlExt Class" file, i.e., C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll file. As to an infection I checked as to the exact date, I did a total and complete fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 seven days ago on the 10th month and I don't go to porn or warez type sites. Just news, computers, facebook, google, and type sites albeit I am aware one can still get infections from such sites with drive by infected flash ads or bad java. Although I went years without anti-virus and never caught a thing, so I wonder how much of it is all just money making "fearmongering", I do now and have for the last two years used anti-virus and keep everything up to date but sometimes the cure is almost worse than the disease it seems at times, i.e. like chemotherapy. I also just last night ran two full scans, i.e. downloaded one full scanner from Microsoft and one from Kaspersky, with them reporting everything OK, BitDefender reporting everything OK, and Malwarebytes reporting everything OK, along with people reporting explorer having coding issues, along with my freezing at the same time Malwarebytes sends an event failure of it's module, when I right click in explorer, I think it is safe to say I agree with you we can rule out an infection and go with a software conflict and mine appears to be with explorer and the Malwarebytes right-clicking module at least on first blush. I'll still continue to monitor the situation. The module in the context menu has been disabled. If it happens again then I'll report back and we can rule out that possibility.
  6. By the way, my research is showing that the right clicking freezing and white screen is a common occurrence with Windows Explorer caused by a variety of reasons and some of the what I would deem expert opinions are saying it is a "bug" in the code of Explorer itself. By the way, I have done a scan of my system with Kaspersky Security Scan Free Virus Scanner and Microsoft Safety Scanner via downloads and no problem with my system in case that might be thought of as a possible issue. My BitDefender Free Anti-Virus installed is showing no issue nor is my Malwarebytes reporting any issue either as to viruses or malware. I just less than a couple of weeks ago reinstalled everything fresh and new on my computer so I wouldn't expect a problem. I don't visit bad sites, but the only thing that gives me pause is I do go to places like CNet, Tucows, ZDNet, MajorGeeks, and Snapfiles downloads for WIndows and download freeware to try out and use. I try to use caution and for some, not all, send some of the freeware & shareware up to VirusTotal for a read on them first if they are within the size limitation. My router is set well where GRC Shields Up and PCFlank on their tests give me a thumbs up on my ports being stealthed.
  7. This evening & it's not the first time this has happened, but when I right clicked in explorer to delete an empty folder my explorer froze, I got the "not responding" in the top of the window with the hour glass, as I clicked the window and then the desktop both turned white. I had to do a rough reset to reboot. I went into events viewer and at the same time of the event of the freeze I noticed this particular event and they may or may not be related but I do recall that in the right click menu there is a "Scan with malwarebytes" option which I do use from time to time. Here is what the event said: Faulting application name: mbamservice.exe, version: 1.70.0.0, time stamp: 0x50cb9148 Faulting module name: mbamservice.exe, version: 1.70.0.0, time stamp: 0x50cb9148 Exception code: 0x40000015 Fault offset: 0x0005f6eb Faulting process id: 0xbd4 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce22ae494f86f8 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe Report Id: baa9d63a-8eb5-11e2-a1b0-0026833b3e8d I'm going to do a uninstall and reinstall of the program and see if that fixes the problem; however if there is a problem with the module itself I guess it rectify the situation.
  8. Thank you for your quick reply and assistance. My apology that I only have one and not three protection logs to give you. Earlier today as I was "tweaking" I had deleted them all, but did find one available. However, I did use System Restore on the folder going back 14 hours and was able to retrieve one more protection log that does show an "Integrity Verification Failed" error. So I do have 2 of the 3 you asked for that I can send you. There may have been some produced in between you obliviously won't have. There you go. I believe that is what you asked for. Also for some reason my return, i.e. enter key does not work in this box for I can't start a new paragraph. Maybe that is the way this is set up. Again thank you in advance and whether the problem is on my end or your end I hope it's quickly resolved. I know from the event's log I have a few problems of my own, but this event looks like it is a problem with the module and therefore I wanted to let you know just in case it was a problem on your end so you'd be aware of it. protection-log-2013-03-15.txt protection-log-2013-03-16.txt CheckResults.txt attach.txt dds.txt
  9. OK I hit enter prematurely and don't see where I can edit. But I thought I would share this with you. After I rebooted, Malwarebytes formerly reported database which again was reported during the freeze and which I again this time did not correct has not come back to again say it was corrupted.
  10. My computer Windows 7 Professional x64. Last few days I've been getting faulty corruption database popups on Malwarebyte's program. I've followed through and reinstalled the database then later for problem to pop up again. I also reinstalled the program. I honestly can't remember if I did an uninstall first or did a reinstall on top of the install. This morning Google Chrome froze on me as at the same time Malwarebytes reported a corrupted database. I was thinking perhaps Google chrome is the problem so I've completely uninstalled Google chrome temporarily. I have no reports of anti-viruses or anything of that nature, i.e. Bitdefender Anti-virus reports all is fine and so does Malwarebytes. Oh when Chrome froze so did explorer taskbar which has done so on more than one occasion. I thought a program "Social Folders" could also be an issue so I've now removed it as well. It sometimes does act up and it is gone for good. But the point of this post is I was going through my Events and I found this interesting item, i.e. Microsoft Product: Windows Operating System; Version: 6.1.7600.16385; Event ID: 1000. Faulting application name: mbamservice.exe, version: 1.70.0.0, time stamp: 0x50cb9148 Faulting module name: mbamservice.exe, version: 1.70.0.0, time stamp: 0x50cb9148 Exception code: 0x40000015 Fault offset: 0x0005f6eb Faulting process id: 0xa38 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce2241b21ab668 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe Report Id: 22d0683b-8e41-11e2-966c-0026833b3e8d
  11. I got the following from Customer Service, so I'll rely on this thread to help me solve the issue. Tom Mercado, Jul-02 09:32 (PDT): Hello and welcome to the Malwarebytes consumer helpdesk. You're already being assisted by one of our staff, continue with his directions
  12. I again used mbam-clean to uninstall Malwarebytes, then reinstalled WITHOUT downloading database update, and reregistered the product. It works fine, as long as I don't upgrade the database it appears. Did a flash scan that worked fine. Protection module is working fine; however, I highly suspect that if I update the database to the current I will again get a download that will download to 100% THEN I'll get the error message as I have before. Originally I had the database up to date as of 3 days ago (I had it set for three day out of date warnings), before trying to update to a newer version today when all the problems started. Now back to an older database of 05/28/2011 (Database Version 6705) with this recent reinstall. Could there just be something wrong with the database itself?
