  1. Hi squidz, Just to pitch in here. The matter of an anti-virus program is up to you but if you intend to pay for one, then check a few out e.g. Eset, Norton, Trend, Kaspersky. I'd also mention that the Windows 7 FW is pretty good, especially if using it with a router. I have Vista OS and when I was using it's FW, never once had a problem, don't use it now because I'm running ESS. Cheers, Brian67
  2. Hi deus, Just to say that I am also running ESS v.5.0.95.0 and MBAM Pro 1.60.0.1800 with no problems. If you are not a4884289 who posted a question regarding this same topic on Wilders Security Forums, I apologise but if you are that same person, I have to say that you were offered help and quite a bit of it! Regards, Brian67
  3. Hi bmg, If you get around to viewing this reply, I expect you'll have sorted your problem out. Anyhow, for what it's worth, I recently had to uninstall Eset Smart Security owing to a license activation problem. Their Tech Support recommended uninstalling from in Safe Mode and thence clicking on Start, finding Eset in Start Menu and >Uninstall. I must admit that prior to this, I never uninstalled AV programs in Safe Mode but I guess it makes sense and I will continue this practice in future. Take care, Brian67
  4. Hi sprice86, I have to agree somewhat with fivealive's advice. If you want to run a free AV program, then I would go for MSE or Avast. I have previously used both of them, preferring the latter, not only because it's a pretty good free AV but also, their community forum gives helpful friendly advice (a bit like MBAM's)! If only Eset NOD32 was a free program sprice, I would thoroughly recommend it but unfortunately it isn't. I switched from Avast earlier this year and immediately noticed how much quicker and responsive my OS was, in fact, I was so impressed that I recently migrated to Eset Smart Security which has also highly impressed me. Cheers, Brian67
  5. Hi Firefox Bytes, At the moment I'm on a NOD32 free trial, having migrated from Avast where I ran Malwarebytes (paid version) with protection enabled and no problems. If anything, with NOD32 now installed, everything seems to be running much smoother and I will certainly be upgrading to full version at completion of trial period. As Mainard recommends, you should set Malwarebytes exclusions.
  6. Just trying to help AdvancedSetup, with my limited knowledge I thought these problems were probably caused by the Avast update situation but as you say, it seems there are other issues. Have a Happy and "trouble free " year one and all!! Brian67
  7. Hi structure and jered2011, First let me say that I'm by no means a "techie", just a simple home user. I think the problems you're experiencing with the Dell WLAN card have probably been caused by the latest Avast!5 update (5.1.864) and if you visit the Avast forums, you'll find all the information available to you but in short, Avast is aware of the situation and it seems a "fix" will be available this coming weekend. I took the advice offered, Control Panel>Add/Remove Program(Avast)>Change Program, unchecked box for Behaviour Shield and Reboot, problem resolved. If you havn't already figured this problem out, I hope this snippet of information helps you but do visit the Avast forums, it seems this "bug" generated by this latest update has caused lots of problems, mostly for Dell laptop users like myself. Cheers, Brian67
  8. Hi detsi, I've been reading this thread and I cannot believe the attitude of 1PW, no wonder you wish to unsubscribe from this thread!! All I can say is, don't let this jerk dishearten you from starting further threads in pursuit of answers to any problems you are likely to encounter. Having been a forum member for two years or so now, I have always found the MBAM forum to be one of the most helpful and friendly around and I am afraid that 1PW is not a good representative of the forum. Incidentally, like you, I'm still on a learning curve but like many others I'm running MBAM and SAS, both with realtime protection enabled and Avast!5 (previously MSE) with nil conflicts. Having said that, you need to set exclusions for MBAM and SAS within your AV program and you should be able to search the forum for this information. Hopefully, one of the forum's respected moderators or indeed anyone with this know how might be able to provide you with this information in a far friendlier and less patronizing manner than 1PW!! Cheers, Brian67
  9. Many thanks for your reply Mystery. In a way I was pleased MBAM was doing it's job and thought it was probably a FP but I was mystified as to why the album was allowed to download with the exception of this one track. I would have thought the IP blocking would have extended to the whole album! Glad Supertramp appear to have another fan but hope you're not showing your age (like me!)!! Cheers, Brian67
  10. Hi Guys, Just a little puzzled regard this ip address. I was downloading an MP3 album from Amazon (UK) using their download manager, it downloaded ok with the exception of one track. I came to notice that everytime I retried to download this track, a Malwarebytes balloon tip displayed, showing that it had blocked this ip address. I'm puzzled as to why it is that just this one track should have been blocked on this pop/rock album (Supertramp), yes I know I'm showing my age!! Hopefully, somebody will be able to shed some light on this for me. Checked this address on ipchecking.com and the host name is cds254.lon.11nw.net and company appears to be "Limelight Networks" Many thanks, Brian67
  11. Hi daledoc1, I'm pretty much a computer ignoramus so I realise I shouldn't really be trying to give an advanced member any advice! However, I noticed that in your post you mentioned that you were running Windows Defender, am I to presume that you have the "realtime protection" box unchecked? The only reason I bring this up is that until recently, I was running MSE,MBAM (protection disabled) and Superantispyware but because there seemed to be some conflict going on, I replaced MSE with Avast. I guess that when I uninstalled MSE, Defender was automatically re-enabled and I consequently had another conflict because the realtime protection box was still checked!! Anyway, I am now running Avast5,MBAM Pro(protection enabled),SuperAntispyware and Windows(Vista)Firewall and touchwood, everything's running fine. Incidentally, I did try Avira Antivir Personal for a short while but I, like many others, experienced many updating problems and the Avast forums seemed to be more helpful than Avira's. Cheers, Brian67
  12. Hi Firefox, Many thanks for advice. Carried out your instructions but I kept getting same error!! However, with much playing about, I managed to uninstall MBAM using Revo Uninstaller. Have now reinstalled and everything is normal once again. Again, many thanks. Brian67
  13. Hi Guys, Hope somebody can help with this problem, which I do not really know how occurred. It started after I was having a problem with uninstalling my firewall (Outpost free), got into a bit of a panic and for whatever reason attempted to uninstall MBAM (paid version), with the view of reinstalling. Upon trying to uninstall I get the following Error Messages File: "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\unins000.msg" is missing, Please correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the program. Not being too clued up on computers, I do not know how to correct the problem and I am not able to obtain a new copy of MBAM! I have tried a System Restore to no avail. I would be very grateful for any help and ideas. OS: Vista Home Premium SP2, Avast5,Windows Firewall and MBAM hopefully, incidentally, I run MBAM with protection disabled. BobbyZee
  14. Hi marktreq, Many thanks for your thoughts on this matter and I will do a check disk and try disabling Diskeeper. The only other thing that puzzles is puzzling me is, that when I run a full scan with MSE, it scans C:\ in approximately 25 seconds and scanning of D:\ takes up the remaining 45 minutes of the scan! I know I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to computers but I believe it should take 45 minutes to scan C:\ as 75 GB has been used as opposed to 5GB used on D:\, so perhaps there is some sort of conflict going on somewhere! I'll try and sort it out. Cheers, Brian67
  15. Thanks once again mountaintree, you'll be getting fed up with me! I'm only running one software firewall (Windows) and hardware firewall is enabled in the router. I will carry out marktreq's suggestion of disk check. Take care, Brian67
