Hi, Nate2: :)

Welcome.

This is a pretty standard meme from many of the AV vendors.

It's largely a marketing/$$ issue.

MBAM PRO is specifically developed and tested to run alongside all of the major, popular AVs.

There are occasional versions of some of these programs/suites (e.g. branded versions delivered through ISPs, etc) that don't permit the user to set mutual exclusions.

For MOST of the major AVs, though, it's just a question of setting these mutual exclusions to optimize performance and to allow both programs to work properly side by side.

And if you are not experiencing any issues (slowdowns, freezes, crashes), then you ought to be fine.

Below are some generic instructions for setting the mutual exclusions for MBAM and an AV.

Additional info can be found in the FAQ >>here<<, although this section could use a bit of updating. ;)

If you need specific help with this, please post back to tell us WHICH Norton PRODUCT and WHICH VERSION, as well as the version of Windows you are running.

An expert member or staffer arrives who is familiar with Norton will assist you further.

HTH,

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software (I'm not sure what AV and what version of Windows you are using):

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware \ mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com
