I tried what you have sugfgested it did not work. I have also tried deleting rules.ref. The program will not update.

sorry, I am runnig XP, having trouble getting rid of a browser redirect virus so.. I formatted my hard drive , installed windows XP and explorer 8 and all windows updates and the tried to install malwarebytes. The program installed but the update failed. Since then I have installed avast antivirus and unistalled malewarebytes. I would like to reinstall it, any advice?
