RIP my friend... it sure was quite once you stop posting on the forums... and now you will be missed by all the folks you helped through the years.

  3. I hope you're ok

  4. Nope, it's not Penetration Testing; I get the detection with Pen Testing disabled. You can replicate this by viewing the Control Panel in "All Control Panel Items" view (not Categories view) and right-clicking the entry for Windows Update and selecting the option to create a shortcut and allow it to create the shortcut on your desktop when prompted; that shortcut will replicate the same detection (the START menu has nothing to do with the detection; it's triggering based purely on the shortcut). I tried creating a shortcut for a different Control Panel item and got no detection, so it's specific to Windows Update, which explains the name of the detection (ms-settings:windowsupdate).
  5. After rebooting to finish installing the latest round of Windows Updates from Microsoft, whenever I try to launch my shortcut to Windows Update which I have pinned to my START menu, Exploit Detection blocks and flags it as an exploit attempt; I'm not sure why we'd need to block the execution of Windows Update through explorer, but I'm thinking it's likely an FP: Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.com -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 3/5/22 Protection Event Time: 11:52 PM Log File: 89f4326c-9d11-11ec-be77-80fa5b64d0e8.json -Software Information- Version: 4.5.6.180 Components Version: 1.0.1630 Update Package Version: 1.0.51939 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 19044.1526) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Exploit Details- File: 0 (No malicious items detected) Exploit: 1 Malware.Exploit.Agent - Exploit payload process blocked, C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\explorer.exe ms-settings:windowsupdate, Blocked, 0, 392684, 0.0.0, , -Exploit Data- Affected Application: Windows Control Panel Protection Layer: Application Behavior Protection Protection Technique: Exploit payload process blocked File Name: C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\explorer.exe ms-settings:windowsupdate URL: (end)
  6. Greetings, You can reset the option by accessing settings. To do so, open Malwarebytes and click the small gear icon in the upper right, then toggle the option under Windows Explorer settings off and then back on again, then see if that corrects the issue. If it does not, then please try restarting the system to see if that re-enables it. If it still doesn't work after that, please do the following so that we may take a closer look and try to determine what might be causing the issue: Download and run the Malwarebytes Support ToolAccept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply Please let us know how it goes. Thanks
  7. While it is accurate that Malwarebytes does not scan emails, it will block remote content from known malicious sites and servers and will block access to malicious links in emails if they are clicked, the same as it would for a web browser.
  8. FYI, if that's the only reason you guys are forcing a reboot, I'm pretty sure Chrome, Edge, Firefox and most other modern browsers will or can be restarted automatically to reload any open webpages, so aside from using a little extra bandwidth to reload the open tabs/sites after the browser is forced to restart, there shouldn't be much in the way of inconvenience, and that's certainly preferable to a full system restart. I don't know if that's something you can automate in the installer or not though, so the Devs will have to figure that out.
  9. You can try uninstalling Malwarebytes, then enabling Kaspersky, then restarting the system, then reinstalling Malwarebytes to see if that allows it to work. If you still see the alert from Kaspersky then your only option would be to disable the detection of incompatible applications if such a setting exists, however I don't know if the latest version of Kaspersky includes such an option or not (past versions did and it allowed users to skip the check for incompatible software, but that was during install, Kaspersky didn't previously detect incompatible apps after it was already installed on the system). If none of that helps, your best bet would be to contact Kaspersky's support to see if they have an option or solution to allow the use of Kaspersky with Malwarebytes.
  10. OK, I think it would be best to go into deeper troubleshooting at this point, especially since the system is behaving abnormally with high CPU usage and an inability to shut it down normally. Because of all this, it seems likely that something more pervasive is at the heart of it. Please follow the instructions in this topic, skipping any steps you are unable to complete, then create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and a malware removal specialist will guide you in checking and cleaning your system of any threats and hopefully getting the issue resolved. Even if the issue is not malware related, they are able to use more advanced troubleshooting and repair tools in that area than we are authorized to use here. Alternatively, if you would prefer to seek assistance via email instead, you may create a ticket with Support by filling out the web form on this page.
  11. 12. The info in this post may prove helpful to you: That said, there are known compatibility issues with Kaspersky and there have been for a long time, however some users have been able to avoid them by setting exclusions as described in that thread.
  13. Greetings, Please refer to the information and application on this page: https://www.malwarebytes.com/techbench I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know. Thanks
  14. Greetings, It certainly could be, as Malwarebytes has various components in its real-time protection which monitor various activities to look for malware and malicious activity, including the Web Protection component which monitors connections for malicious sites and servers. If there is anything else we can help with please let us know. Thanks
