  1. I currently have one license for Malwarebytes that I purchased many months ago. I have been using it on just one PC as the licensing terms state. I am looking to purchase another license to use on my company laptop. Because of money constraints we as a company can't afford to purchase a corporate license for everyone to use. My real question is this: in order to connect to the internet we use a proxy configuration script and are behind a firewall. If I upgrade the free version to paid version on my company laptop will it work properly in a corporate network environment or cause more headaches than it's worth? Something tells me there is no option for me to purchase a single 'corporate' license. Please let me know what I should as soon as possible.
  2. A certain IP address is being blocked every time I visit this one website. There is nothing malicious about the website. It has been blocked for the last month or so and I am getting tired of having to uncheck the IP protection to visit the website. IP address: 212.117.166.161 Please let me know if you want the direct URL to the website. I purposely didn't include it because I was not sure if I should.
  3. Thanks for the information as I just set it up to do that. However, I still think a feature should be added in the GUI so users like myself can easily add multiple update times and not be restricted to just one time a day. The same applies for the scan, but I am not concerned too much with the scan since running it more than once a day is a little overboard.
  4. Windows task properties? Do you mean Windows Task Manager? Please describe in steps how I would go about such a thing because I am still lost.
  5. That doesn't really answer my question. It shows a bunch of command line parameters, but I haven't a clue as to how I would use them. I just want to be able to update several times a day automatically. This way if I miss one of the update times it isn't a big deal.
  6. Here is my simple suggestion. I would like it if I could choose between several different times for automatically updating and scanning. In other words, if my computer is not on when the update is scheduled for it doesn't get updated unless I manually do it. I have the update set at 7 PM, but there are times when I don't turn the computer on until 8 PM. Updating MBAM is not the first thing on my mind when starting the computer if you know what I mean. If I could have it automatically update at 1 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM that would be awesome because on the weekends I usually have the computer turned on by at least 1 PM. All of this applies to the scanning option as well. Please let me know if any of this is possible or if you have questions about my suggestion.
  7. Threatfire is owned by PC Tools and it is not an anti-virus program at all. It mostly uses heuristics and is good at detecting zero day threats that don't have signatures yet. Either way, be sure to allow MBAM within threatfire.
  8. I had a PC that would keep rebooting every time the user would try to shut down. Everything worked fine for the user until they tried to manually shut down. Once they tried to shut down the computer would just restart instead. I was able to scan the PC in safe mode using MBAM. It turns out the infection was Trojan.Vundo. I am not sure if this helps at all.
  9. Well I suppose they don't have very good support, but they are still a legit company. The author of this topic was asking if the program RegCure was legit or not. There are many different rogue registry cleaners out there and the author was afraid that RegCure was one of them. RegCure is definitely not one of them. It might not be the greatest product or company, but it is a legit product in my opinion.
  10. mountaintree16, RegCure is not free. It is not a cookie cleaner, rather it is a registry cleaner. PC Tools products are great, but truly programs like PCTIS and Spyware Doctor are better run on fast machines. genius12, You are contradicting yourself by saying it isn't legit, and then saying it's a great program. I am guessing that was typo on your part.
  11. Yes RegCure is legit. http://www.regcure.com/ Personally, I prefer to use CCleaner which has a built in registry cleaner. CCleaner is free to use and can be downloaded below. http://www.ccleaner.com/download If you are looking for an alternative Registry Cleaner that costs money just like Reg Cure, I recommend getting Registry Mechanic. It is made by a company called PC Tools. I use a lot of their products and are really great. http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/ I hope this helps.
  12. Dave2, You definitely tried installing MBAM in safe mode right? Be sure that you are not selecting safe mode with networking. You want to be certain no other programs are running and your internet connection is disabled which is obviously the whole point of safe mode. Truly I don't have an answer as to why the install is hanging especially if you are doing it in safe mode. When you boot into safe mode is there any programs that are actually starting for some odd reason? Are there any suspicious looking processes running in the task manager?
  13. I just thought I would add this to the topic. PC Tools Internet Security 2009 is definitely compatible with Malwarebytes Antimalware. There are two main things that need to be done for it to be compatible. First, you need to go into the Firewall settings. Click on the applications list and find mbam.exe and mbamgui.exe. Be sure to grant them full access to the internet. Once this is done click on the settings button located on the left hand side panel. Find global action list and click on it. Click on the add button and from the drop down menu select file on disk. Copy and paste or browse to the following files below. Be sure to select the option to always allow. Files: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref (Windows 2000/XP) C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref (Windows Vista) C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Once you add all of these files everything should work just fine. Also, please understand that PC Tools Internet Security 2009 and Malwarebytes Antimalware are the only two active security applications I am using on my PC. I do not use the kernel compatibility option within PC Tools Internet Security 2009. After you do everything I described above I recommend a reboot of your computer. I hope all of this helps someone else out there.
  14. Dave2, The best thing to do is rename the install file from mbam-setup to something like mbam-setup4992. The 4992 is just a random number I came up with. It should then let you install it without any problems. I recommend doing this in safe mode mode though. Also, once the program is installed you might need to rename the mbam.exe file to mbam422.exe so it will open. A lot of time the malware that is on your machine will prevent malwarebytes from installing and running if you don't rename the files.
  15. Well I just purchased a license and registered the program. I selected the settings I wanted and said start protection. I sat and watched my task manager (CPU usage) for a good three minutes. Nothing really happened at all. Then I restarted my computer to see if everything would lock up or not. At first my computer hesitated and it truly appeared that it was going to lock up. However, everything then started fairly quickly. I quickly opened up the task manager and everything appeared normal as there were not any drastic spikes in CPU usage. All I can say is so far so good and I will report back in a few days.
