  1. Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciated 100%. The website protection just gets a little bothersome sometimes. No big deal.
  2. I have a premium MBAM and I would only like to run the protection module not the website blocking. I know I think how to set it but I'd like to make sure. Is it just a matter of disabling the website blocking feature ? When I do that I get the Interface that says MBAM needs to be fixed. I understand that it is probably doing that to let me know that one of the modules is not set right, but is that all that is going to happen? I just want the Malware protection with updating and no scheduled scans. If at all possible I wish yyou could give me the proper way to accomplish this in version 2.0.1.1004.
  3. Thanx my friend for your time and info. I have learned more in these responses than I ever could have any other way. As I posted somewhere else I believe I did have rootkits enabled this once. The few quick scans that were run on 2.0 were just default settings.
  4. Mine finally finished at 2hrs.+ I just never had an MBAM scan take that long before, but this is a newly featured MBAM 2.0 so I should have taken that into consideration. Both of my drives Data and C drive don't take up 200GB plus my C drive is solid state if that means anything. That is the only time I will run the Custom unless there is some pressing reason. Thank you my friend.
  5. Yes it does help explain. Another poster also added the "Rootkit" issue with these Custom scans. As I asked him, how does MBAM ever scan for rootkits if they are by Default, disabled? or is it just an option for users to choose?
  6. I believe I did have that enabled. When does MBAM ever scan for rootkits if that is by default disabled?
  7. Because one of my drives is a Data drive I wanted it scanned entirely to see if anything bad had been moved over before I had the Protection running. I should have told you that even though I had MBAM Pro I never ran the Protection before because of all the back and forth of not running 2 live protections. I just said screw it and decided to finally find out for myself because there are detractors on both sides. Even though "Whoever" says that MBAM is not an antivirus and is more like anti-spyware I decided to test it live protection with Norton IS and find out for myself. I had no problems whatsoever running the Protections on both MBAM and Norton IS. That said I needed to find out if there was any malware in my Data drive and the previous scans by MBAM were very quick ones. If they didn't want you running a custom scan they should have left it out as there are plenty of people with Data drives that do know that Malware can find it's way through and will not always be picked up the first time. That being said, you were right in saying these kinds of scans do not need to be run more than once in a long while. Now that I have went through all this the moment or so after I posted this the scan did finish correctly by itself with the one piece of "Adware DomaIQ". I put it in Quarantine after the scan finished and restarted. I have just never seen a scan of any kind take so long by MBAM.So I take out of all this that the only scan that really needs to be run by this software is a "Threat Scan" ? Otherwise I should only do a Custom Type Scan with Norton IS, (My AV)? I am trying to make sure of what you were trying to say. In the end here it all ended up good as my post was premature, but as I said 2hrs.+ is a long time for an MBAM scan.
  8. I decided to do a Custom scan on my Win 7 X64 Acer laptop. First I run Norton IS 2014 alongside with all proper exclusions the way I have always run it. That said I have already run a scan and had no problems. This scan is going on 2 hrs. and 10 mins. and is stuck on 236,654 items scanned at Filesystem with Heuristics pending. The scan will not pause. It has detected one piece of Adware in the AppData section. It just keeps on running so I guess I am going to kill this and await some kind of answer as to why this might be happening.
  9. I use Internet Download manager to download most of my files and they have a box for a virus scanner and command line options. I was wondering if anyone has ever used this and knows how to fill this out with the proper parameters for scanning/cleaning if needed/ and logging action.
  10. Use CC (crud cleaner). Click on tools, click on startup and you can disable startup entries from there. It's also freeware
  11. What I meant concerning the Updates were, Does the Malwarebytes program have to be running in the tray in order to have scheduled updates. In the previous build I was able to get my updates on a schedule without having to run the real time protection, via the Task Scheduler. With this new build I was unsure if I could get auto updates without running MBAM in real time, with the protection going. It seems as though you have to run 1.45 with Protection to get the update scheduler to work. If there's a way to get the auto updates without running real time protection, I'd like to know if it's possible. Also thanks for the File Execution explanation. That fixed that for me.
  12. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking 2 things in my post, but here goes. Can someone please explain file execution blocking to me briefly and tell me why I should check that box under protection. Is it vital for protection or is it just an added feature? As for Updating with the new scheduler. Do I have to have the Protection Module running in order to execute updates by the scheduler? Does the app have to be running in the tray for the updates to execute? If not, how do I go about updating without running the protection module. I've already tried the most simple way of setting and forgetting without MBAM running in the tray and nothing happens, so if there's a way to run MBAM's updater without running real time protection, please let me know.
  13. 20:30:11 Randyboy IP-BLOCK 94.75.208.166 This is Movie Hogs Private torrent site. I've used this site for a while now and this is the first time I've ever had this blocked by MBAM. What's up? I know it's a torrent site, but it's a private tracker and I've used it a thousand times before without problems, so unless you know something I don't please fill me in. Are you selective about the torrent sites and trackers that you block? Because I can access some of the shakier torrent sites without being blocked and I get blocked by at least one of the more reputable sites that I use.
