Scheduled Scan while Mac asleep
ElPiedra replied to Brunswick's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
@Brunswick The scan duration you mentioned seems unusually long. I recommend restarting your macOS and checking the number of programs that load at startup and the number of objects Malwarebytes is scanning. (If you're using an Intel Mac, try resetting the NVRAM) Meanwhile, you might want to turn off the scheduled scan temporarily. -
@Brunswick A green dot on the Malwarebytes icon for Mac signifies an active scan. Click the icon to open Malwarebytes and check the "Activity log" for details.

Scheduled Scan while Mac asleep
ElPiedra replied to Brunswick's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
@Brunswick Following up on @Porthos points, I'm interested in how long your scan takes and the number of objects it covers. Also, keep in mind that regular scans aren't essential with active real-time protection unless you're often installing new, non-official apps. -
@TobyR scanning 215,687 objects should be faster (do you have a standalone or business version?). But feel free to start a new thread with some logs and details like file sizes and their locations (e.g., in system folders) and ping me there for more in-depth analysis. Remember, daily scans aren't necessary if real-time protection is on unless you're frequently installing new, non-official apps.

Protection update to version 4.0625 is out with a minor bug fix for performance improvements. @TobyR Yes, scan times are usually very fast, but they depend on the machine's capabilities plus # of files/folders. More files equal longer scan time.
-
Great to hear that! We plan to roll out a new update soon to improve performance. Just wondering why you are canceling the scan. It should only take a few seconds. 🤔
-
Thanks for the heads-up @TobyR. We'll look into it more closely. Meanwhile, could you restart your Mac, try scanning again, and let us know if the issue persists?

Free scan been stuck at the same file
ElPiedra replied to kayden's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
@TrevorCC If you click the Detection History card in the main Malwarebytes window, you'll see an Activity Log tab. That will tell you every time there's been a database update and the version number. -
Free scan been stuck at the same file
ElPiedra replied to kayden's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
Yesterday's MBmacOS protection update inadvertently led to unusually long scan times. To address this, we've just released a new update, version 4.0.623, which should restore scan speeds to their usual lightning-fast pace. Please update and let us know how it goes. -
A new update for MB-Linux has been released right now to fix this FP: DB version 2.0.202303061948
-
Hi @Eldin, Thanks for reporting. Indeed a false positive which we will fix in the next update. In the meantime, you can exclude the Tailscale program from your Nebula console.

Since the "Malwarebytes Database Update 1.0.3624" - all Malwarebytes users are able to receive the Microsoft Patch to mitigate Meltdown. Source: Malwarebytes Blog (update as of 1/04/18)

Thanks for reporting - we have fixed this fp, so it won't be detected anymore. Thx!

Questions about Petya and Mischa
ElPiedra replied to LarryS's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hi LarryS, The ransomware "Mischa" is detected by MBARW (by behavioral patterns). Dropper (containing both payloads) is detected by MBAM (depending on it's packing) known samples are added to the detection, but with time attackers can make changes in order to counteract. For more info, please see this post: I have MBAM and MBAE. Why do I need Anti-Ransomware? by!
