MBAM seems stuck while scanning master boot record...

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I've this problem. When I launch a scan, any kind of scan, the scanning starts quite fast and proceeds until it reaches the Master boot record. At that point the software is stil running, the progression bar still moves, time counter is still clocking, and everything seems fine, but there is no progress whatsoever: the software keeps scanning the Master boot record and never moves on to the disk sectors (even if I'm using the flash scan).. Any possibile explanation for such a behaviour? (Rootkit scan is set as on)

Thanks for any reply.

Andrea

Hi, Razer66: :)

ARK (anti-rootkit) scanning is associated with some issues on some systems.

If your hard drive is encrypted (e.g. with BitLocker, SecureDoc and certain other encryption products), ARK is not supported on such an encrypted drive at this time.  You'll need to disable ARK scanning.

If still a "no go", please follow the directions exactly as shown here:
MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

If that does not correct it, then please read the following and post back the requested logs as attachments to your next reply:
Diagnostic Logs

The staff/experts will review the logs and advise you on how to proceed.

Thanks,

Hi there

thanks for your prompt reply.

Actually the malfunction seems to be related to the anti-rootkit: if I simply uncheck the option, the scan get to completion easily.

I just wonder if this means that I have to give up to the anti-rootkit feature forever....

Cheers

Andrea

Hello Andrea and :welcome:

It's difficult to tell what might be causing the issue without seeing some logs.

Please do the clean removal as requested by daledoc1 and if that does not help then run the scans from the Diagnostic Logs and post those logs back and we'll see if we can get you fixed up.

Thanks
