  1. It depends on one's comfort level. For me it's no thank you, I won't submit this info, regardless of the privacy policy. I'd rather uninstall MWB.
  2. I looked through the info collected in the zip file, nobody who values their privacy should be submitting this info to any party. Full listings of directories and sizes, hosts file contents, cron jobs, apps and extensions installed, running processes, attached devices, etc. I consider this very private info. If you value your privacy, careful out there, what you submit and to whom ...
  3. I know my laptop very well, I do monitor I/O, CPU use, temperature using iStat Menus among other things. There is minimal disk I/O of course, but nothing that should cause high CPU use from RTProtectionDaemon. Between this issue and constant attempts to connect to telemetry.malwarebytes.com it's starting to become clear to me that Malwarebytes has no place on my laptop. I used to use Malwarebytes many years ago on Windows and I figured I'd come back to it on Mac, but things have changed, Malwarebytes does not appear to be what it used to be 7-8 years ago.
  4. It is not 99%, it's a constant 30-40% even when the laptop is otherwise idle. I can see it in the Advanced tab in the MB app. If I turn real-time protection off the CPU use drops to 1-5% and CPU temp drops by 10C.
  5. It makes 0 difference and it can easily be seen in the advanced tab that shows current CPU use.
  6. New thread then: CPU setting doesn't make a difference, I tried Medium and Low. I believe that setting applies to scans (scheduled or manual) anyway not to the real-time protection.
  7. MacBook Pro 15" i7 CPU (2018) RTProtectionDaemon constantly uses 30-40% CPU making everything sluggish and raises the operating temperature of the laptop. The CPU usage setting under Advanced doesn't matter, as I understand it it only applies to scans, but I did try Medium and Low and did not observe any difference. The only solution is to turn off real-time malware protection. There are numerous other reports in the past of the same issue in the Apple Community, Reddit and here in the forums, so this is not a new issue. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252425388
  8. Here to say the same thing, RTProtectionDaemon constantly uses 30-40% CPU, on Macbook Pro 15" 2018 i7. Makes Chrome feel sluggish. This is not right.
  9. This should be a very simple fix for Malwarebytes if they wanted to fix it. Limit to 1 request per day whether successful or not. Or perhaps just try a couple of times, with a backoff of a few hours, the retries should not be more frequent but rather less frequent. 350 attempts is excessive and not defensible in any sane implementation.
  10. > I have moved this topic to the appropriate forum. Thank you. > There is one daily check-in sent to telemetry.malwarebytes.com Unfortunately I count about 350 attempts per day if something like AdGuard Home or PiHole blocks it. Can you truly limit it to 1 attempt per day whether it's successful or not?
  11. Under the CCPA, I should be able to opt out of this telemetry reporting.
  12. I disabled "Usage and Threat Statistics" in the app but it doesn't help. I am a Premium user and this is not what I asked for. It is the top blocked domain on my router.
  13. Adding an exclusion for C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox seems to help, it makes it a lot better, but it still doesn't seem to behave as well as when MBAM is not running at all.
  14. The issue is real, have you tried it? Somehow MBAM monitors the mouse or similar and VirtualBox is very very sluggish when MBAM is running. If I shut down MBAM, VirtualBox is back to normal, so there's clearly some incompatibility between the two. I had problems not too long ago with MBAM and OpenVPN, I reported the problem and it got fixed though it took a while. Unfortunately my experience with MBAM v2 has not been very good, compared to the 1.x version. As for providing logs, I value my privacy and I will not provide any logs in public forums. Please contact me for alternate ways I can provide the info you need in a private way.
