How to test MBAM real time protection

Unfortunately I don't know of anything at the moment, but maybe one of the mods does. I know that with SAS (SUPERAntiSpyware) you can use the bluescreen screensaver from Microsoft Sysinternals (it gets detected and the user gets warned because it is sometimes bundled with actual malware to convince users they're having bluescreens when they're not). I'm not sure if MBAM detects it, but it could be worth a try. I unfortunately can't test it because I'm running x64 and the realtime module for MBAM isn't yet compatible with it.

I'm not a trusted advisor but I have used Sandbox in the past to install viruses with to see how fast my anti-virus program would pick it up.

Where did you find viruses to install? I'd like to test MBAM's real time protection, but I can't seem to find anything evil. :) Yeah, I know, that sounds very strange, especially on this forum, but it's true. If anyone knows where I can find some baddies, I'd like to know. I should add that I'd be doing this sandboxed.

TIA

Hi,

There is a virus colection on internet (emai me and I will give you the link); there are few thousand viruses there but NONE of them trigered any reaction from MBAM; I tested like 150 of them ,all categories , every time Avira gave me a warning but nothing from MBAM.

As a curiosity, I installed MBAM like 8 months ago and I NEVER had ANY warning from it.

The impact on my sistem is minimal so I keep MBAM runing even though I am not conviced that in REAL TIME is doing something....

That's because if this is the archive I think you are referring to, they are all legacy viruses -- have not been in the wild for literally years, and we do not waste database space and processing power on files that are not still in circulation.

claudiubotezatu, you are on very shaky ground here. We will NOT allow you to distribute live malware by means of our forums, even for testing, nor will we allow you to use our forums to help you do so elsewhere.

In addition, you are a known pirate and agitator and I'm not sure why we haven't banned you yet. Consider this a well-intentioned warning.

------

Now, for the rest of the patrons of this thread who have an honest interest in testing MBAM protection:

------

As of the current database version we detect the Spycar test suite:

http://www.spycar.org

Feel free to download and try to run any of the Spycar executables; they should be blocked by the protector on execution.

Let us know if you have any problems.

Dear Swandog46,

I though this is an OPEN FORUM and not a censored one; I do not distribute anything using "your" forum that's why I asked people to email me and I did not post the link directly to "your" forum.

As being an "agitator" ... well I live in Canada where freedom a speach is in constitution..

What about you?

By the way, I tested your Eicar, nothing from MBAM , Avira was faster ...

The only reason I keep MBAM on my computer is that has no impact on it and no conflict with Avira; maybe one day MBAM will pick something....

Banning me will not help, I can go from server to server all US and CANADA and open new accounts and we will not even know..

Ah of course now your colours are coming out for all to see.

Yes we are aware how you harrassed and trolled the Kaspersky help forums for the last 3 years also!

Anyway it's a fact of life that forum trolls exist and have nothing better then to spread FUD but at least now we have a point of reference for any of your future activities at our forums.

I'm going to lock this thread as there is no more dicussion to be had here but just a piece of sincere advice which most of us will agree on.

Get a life!!!
