If you are using Windows 7, Defragmentation Happens Everyone Wednesday Morning at 1:00 am, so it would help to know which version of Windows you are using. Once a week should be good enough for most users.

He's signature says he's using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. ;)

Personally, I don't recommend Defraggler anymore. It screwed up the file system the last time I used it. You don't really need it since Windows 7 already has one with basic features such as progress and scheduling. :)

thanks for the replies everyone.
ive personally used defraggler for quite a while now and never experienced any problems.
I have read on several forums that the windows tool is relatively ineffective.
But i may give it a go myself and see what happens.

Thanks again for your input and advice.

Just let the OS do the defragmentation. There is no need for third part software.

Thank you for your advice david.
ive heard contrasting views on the windows defragmenting tool and the general opinion seems to be very negative in terms of speed etc.
I know third party software can sometimes be harmful although defraggler does seem to receive good appraisal.
Thanks again for your advice and i shall try the windows tool again .

I would say once a week would be ideal to defrag, I personally defrag about once a week to keep the drive from building up alot of fragmented files. Also I have been using

Defraggler for a few years myself and never experience any problems with it also, and I find it to be much nicer then the Windows built in defragger.

Hope this helps. :)
