If you're having issues getting Notifications in the Support Forums
Go here and make sure your settings are like this. You can also try using My Content under your user name instead of Content I Follow If you have a open topic and being help already and haven't heard back from the Helper, within 2 days, use the PM system and PM the helper

I've reviewed your instructions and I have them in place as far as I can tell. I have not received a notification yet from my helper. I just check back periodically.

You can have a look and let me know if I need to change anything ?

Thanks a lot.

Yes. However I'm not getting email notifications when there is an update. Helper response s great.

Possibly my isp is not allowing notifications @triad.rr.com - Road Runner. I'll switch to @gmail and see if they come through.

I don't think it's your ISP or email provider, it appears to be an issue with our provider, IPB.

My settings are nothing like shown in your guide. I have only 'general settings' like timezone, age, gender. How do I get to that page?

Here's one way to do this (Mods: please feel free to move this or split it off, as appropriate :). And Colin0100 has posted a similiar question here: http://forums.malwar...howtopic=111823 :) , which could probably be merged/deleted?):

First, be sure you have the "follow this topic" option selected for your topic(s) -- there is a button at the right side of the gray ribbon that contains the topic title. (This can be done when you create a topic or you can change this any time you are logged in and viewing a topic by clicking this button - it's just a toggle.)
Then, to be double sure, when you are logged in to the forum, click the little down arrow (triangle) next to your username in the upper left of the screen (under the blue MBAM logo).
That will open a drop-down menu.
Click on "My Profile".
Click on the blue "Edit My Profile" button towards the upper right of the screen.
Click the "Notification Options" from the menu on the left side of the screen, under the "My Settings" title.
Under the "Topics and Posts" section, make sure you have the "auto follow" option checked, the "Immediate" option selected, and the boxes for "Email" notifications checked for the first two categories.
Then, click the black "Save Changes" button.

HTH,

daledoc1

PS As LDTate mentioned, if you have trouble getting notifications and/or cannot find your stuff, you can always log in, open the drop-down menu by your username, and click the "my content" option -- that will bring up all your topics and posts.

You're very welcome. :)
Please be sure to follow forum admin AdvancedSetup's advice in your original topic >>HERE<< to start the cleaning process on your system.
Please be patient -- the malware removal forum can be quite busy and many of the expert helpers are volunteers.
Someone will assist you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience,

Just as an FYI, I had all these settings correct based on the advice above and never received an e-mail notice that my topic had a reply. I just checked felt like checking it after waiting a day and noticed I had a reply VERY quickly. Not sure if the e-mail was sent or not.

Love this site guys. Keep it up....great work being done here.

During my first ever topic/post I didn't receive any email notifications on my topic but checked the forum/site everyday and found replies from my helper within 24 hours of any post/reply I sent and got the issue resolved.

On my second topic/post, I received one email notification on 11/30/12 and replied. I did not receive any further email notifications. I checked the forum/site for the next couple of days as I did above for first topic/post and there was no activity. On the third day, I checked forum/site and could not see or find my post or topic. I checked "my content" and there was "0" posts or content. What is the best way to go about getting the post/topic back in the forum.

I am new to the site. I hope this is the correct place to bring this up. Please advise if I need to post this elsewhere.

Thanks for any assistance with this matter!

P.S. I concur with DuckManJeff above in Post #11: I love this site as well. Great work is being done here. Please keep it up!

Hi, HighlyFavored1: :)

Even though you mention "11/30/2012" in your post, I presume that might have been a typo (since today is only 11/07/2012)? ;) :) :D

There was a forum database corruption problem ~1 week ago, the end result of which was ~10 days' worth of lost posts back to 10/18/2012 -- this affected all forum members.
Additionally, members who had created their accounts (and posted) in the period between Oct 18 and the forum glitch ALSO lost their profiles.
http://forums.malwar...howtopic=117534

So, that probably explains what happened to your posts.
It was very confusing for everyone, especially forum newcomers, and especially those who were being helped in the malware removal section.
Many folks had to recreate their profile and had to pick up where they had left off.

The problems should be resolved now, and you ought not to have any additional problems, particularly if you have your profile preferences configured for "immediate" email notifications. That way, you'll receive immediate emails when your helper replies to your topic. (Check the link in LDTate's original post in this thread >>HERE<< for an example of how to set up those features.)

Sorry for the confusion!

Yes daledoc1 that should have read 10/30/12. Sorry! :D

Thanks for the reply and info about the glitch. I did not lose my profile but my open topic and resolved topic.

Should I PM my helper from the open topic that was lost and try to pick up where we left off or attach the logs (MBAM, dds.txt & attach.txt) and send in like a new topic?

Again, thanks for your speedy reply and the info.! It helped! :)

Hi, HF1:

Since you had joined back in Sept, your profile was probably OK, and it was only a question of lost posts.

Please just start a new post in the malware removal section, mentioning the name of your original helper in the subject line, so that he/she will spot it easily. Yes, you can include any logs in that new post.
You might also send him/her a PM.

Thanks!
