Hello and welcome, VirusBGone: :)

Is it safe to assume from your username that you are now or recently were infected?
If so, the malware can disrupt network connectivity and other critical Windows services.

It would be advisable to have an expert assist with looking into this further.
We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert help, please follow the recommendations in this sticky topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
Once you are given the "all clear" by your helper, he/she may send you back here, if need be, for non-malware related issues.

Thanks,

Hi Dale,

I have been infected in the past and this forum has helped tremendously. However, this time MWB did not detect a virus so I was checking first to make sure there isn't a setting that I am missing on my PC or elsewhere. I guess that since I can connect in safe mode, it's most likely not a setting, correct?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi:

Impossible to say without more information (you don't even mention your version of the Windows OS). ;)

Please start at the link provided above.
A helper will guide you through some scans of your system to see what's going on.
If there's no evidence of active infection or damage from infection, then they'll possibly send you back here or to another resource.

Thanks,

daledoc1

PS BTW, Just to clarify MBAM is not an antivirus & is not a replacement for one: Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software? So, if you've been running without a proper AV, a "clean" MBAM scan does not in and of itself guarantee that you aren't infected. (It often requires the use of multiple different scanning tools to detect/remove today's nasty rootkits and other infections.)
