Hi I am running win7 premium home edition and recently installed malwarebytes, free edition. When scanning, malwarebytes freezes on MSOCACHE/ALLUSERS.......\proof.en\proof.xml. I tried WIN 7 system tools to delete this directory but the tool did not show this directory so it could not be deleted. Any clues as to why this directory cannot be scanned? BTW, I searched the forums but could not find a similar issue posted with a viable solutions.

That's the MS Office cached folder and contains CAB files. If you have enabled "scanning inside archives" then maybe it is just taking a long time to scan said CAB files.

In MBAM you can disable "Enable scanning inside archives" or you can also have the anti malware scanners ignore or exclude the directory tree.

Hello and :welcome:

Please try the following. It should take at least 10 minutes to a couple of hours depending on the speed of your computer.

You may have corrupted files on your disk. Please try running the following.
First close ALL Applications as this routine will automatically restart your computer.
Click on START - RUN and copy / paste the following entry into the box and click OK
CMD /C ECHO Y|CHKDSK C: /R | SHUTDOWN /R /T 30

After the chkdsk is done, they try running another MBAM Quick Scan and let us know if it completes...
