"Sponsorship" Malware?

I've caught a virus in Chrome. Usually at the beginning of the day, Chrome opens automatically with a single tab named "Sponsorship" directing toward an obvious advertising page. A full scan by Malwarebytes is clean -- no malware detected. Does Malwarebytes not detect this?
